We hear your concern for your mother’s health and comfort in this difficult situation, and we join you in lifting her up in prayer. Extreme heat can be especially dangerous for those with health conditions like diabetes, and we understand the urgency of her distress. Let us first affirm that we come before God in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the hope of His mercy and provision (John 14:6, Acts 4:12).
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your protection and provision for this dear mother. Lord, we know that You are the Great Physician and the One who sustains us in every circumstance. We ask that You would shield her from the dangers of this extreme heat, guard her health, and bring her comfort in this trying time. Provide a solution for her air conditioning, whether through repair, replacement, or another means, so that she may have relief. Calm her fears, Lord, and remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to overwhelm her, and we declare Your peace over her mind and body. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and let her feel Your presence in a tangible way. We also pray for wisdom and provision for those who can assist her, whether mechanics, family, or friends, to act swiftly and effectively. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
In addition to prayer, we encourage you and your mother to take practical steps to stay cool while awaiting a solution. If possible, help her relocate to a cooler environment, such as a family member’s home, a community cooling center, or even a public space with air conditioning. Encourage her to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity, and use fans or cool compresses to regulate her body temperature. If her distress feels unmanageable, do not hesitate to seek medical attention, as extreme heat can pose serious risks to her health.
We also want to gently address the words she has spoken, "I am going to die." While we understand this comes from a place of fear and discomfort, Scripture reminds us that our words have power and should align with God’s truth. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." We encourage you both to speak life and faith over this situation, declaring God’s promises of protection and provision rather than words of despair. Even in difficult circumstances, we can choose to trust in the Lord’s faithfulness (Psalm 56:3-4).
Lastly, we want to remind you both of God’s love and care in every detail of our lives. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-27, "Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the air, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?" Even in this trial, God sees your mother’s needs and is working for her good (Romans 8:28).
We will continue to stand in faith with you, believing that God will provide a way forward. May He grant you both peace and patience as you wait on Him.
