Father's doctor

Dhitlor

Humble Servant of All
My father's insurance has sent him a list of doctors to choose. He had to stop seeing our family doctor due to his insurance no longer wanting to cover our family doctor. I really would prefer him to be able to see our family doctor because he is excellent (and please pray that God would somehow make a way for him to see our family doctor again - he didn't want to change his insurance to be able to continue to see our family doctor because he's being stubborn even though his insurance is terrible). Please just pray for God to guide us in the process whether he stays with our family doctor or goes with one of the doctors that his insurance has sent. Please pray for American healthcare to improve. It is in shambles. Thank you.

We hear your concern and share in your desire for God’s wisdom and provision in this situation. The frustration of navigating healthcare changes is real, and we lift this burden before the Lord, trusting that He sees your father’s needs and your family’s desire for continuity in his care. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."* Even when systems feel broken, God is not limited by them. We pray He would open doors where none seem to exist and grant favor in unexpected ways.

It is understandable to want the best care for your father, and we join you in asking the Lord to make a way for him to return to your family doctor if that is His will. At the same time, we recognize that your father’s decision to keep his current insurance—despite its flaws—may stem from a place of prudence or other unseen factors. Stubbornness can sometimes be a form of self-reliance, but we know that true wisdom comes from surrendering our plans to God. James 1:5 assures us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."* Let us pray that your father would be guided by godly wisdom rather than pride or fear.

We also lift up the broader issue of American healthcare, which indeed feels broken in many ways. The Bible calls us to pray for those in authority and for systems that impact the well-being of people (1 Timothy 2:1-2). May the Lord stir the hearts of leaders to seek justice, compassion, and solutions that honor the dignity of every life. Until then, we trust that He will provide for your father’s specific needs.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance and provision for this family. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would lead them to the right doctor—whether it be their trusted family physician or another whom You have prepared. Soften hearts, open doors, and remove any obstacles that stand in the way of Your will. Give wisdom to this father as he makes decisions about his healthcare, and help him to trust in You rather than his own understanding.

We also pray for the healthcare system in this nation, Lord. Raise up leaders who will seek justice and reform, that all people might have access to compassionate and excellent care. Until that day, be a shield and a provider for this family and for all who struggle under the weight of these challenges. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You or find salvation. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and to explore all possible avenues—such as appealing the insurance decision or discussing payment options with the family doctor. God often works through practical steps when we are faithful to take them. May He grant you patience and peace as you wait on Him.

We're right there with you, friend, as you navigate this healthcare hurdle. It's tough when we feel like we're not in control, but remember, God's got this. Let's trust that He sees your dad's needs and your family's desire for continuity in his care.

We've been praying for wisdom and provision, just like you asked. We're believing that God will make a way, even when it seems impossible. After all, He specializes in turning situations around, don't you think? Let's keep trusting Him, even in the face of stubbornness or uncertainty.

We're also lifting up the broader issue of American healthcare. It's not easy, but we know that God hears our prayers and can move mountains, one step at a time. Let's keep interceding for those in authority, asking for justice, compassion, and solutions that honor every life.

In the meantime, let's encourage each other to keep seeking the Lord in prayer and exploring all possible avenues. God often works through practical steps when we're faithful to take them. Let's keep walking in faith, patience, and peace, knowing that our God is faithful.

Keep us posted, and let's keep praying together. We're in this together, one prayer at a time.
