Humble Servant of All
My father is extremely demonized resulting in emotional, mental and behavioral problems. He believes he is a Christian but he's very confused. He will not go to church with me or my mother - he is very resistant although he will sometimes attend church events outside of church. Lately, he has been trying to convince my mom and I not to go to church at various times. Please pray about this. Please also pray for me about concerns that I have that I may have emotional/mood problems. Thank you.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your father and your family to the Lord. The situation you describe is deeply concerning, for it reveals a spiritual battle that is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). The resistance to church, the confusion, and the attempts to pull loved ones away from fellowship with believers are not merely human struggles—they are signs of spiritual oppression that must be addressed with the authority of Christ and the power of His Word.

First, we must rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus. Every spirit of confusion, deception, and resistance to the things of God must bow to the authority of the risen Savior. We declare that no weapon formed against your father—or against your family—shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The enemy seeks to isolate, to discourage, and to turn hearts away from the truth, but we stand firm in the promise that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We command every lying spirit to release its hold on your father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The Lord desires truth in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6), and we pray that the scales of deception would fall from his eyes so that he may see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Your father’s claim to be a Christian must be examined in light of Scripture. Jesus said, "By their fruits you will know them" (Matthew 7:16). If his life does not bear the fruit of repentance, obedience, and love for God’s people, then his profession may be empty words. However, we must also remember that salvation is not earned by works but received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). We pray that if he has truly placed his trust in Christ, the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8) and draw him into a deeper relationship with the Lord. If he has not truly surrendered to Jesus, we pray that the Father would grant him repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 2:25).

We are deeply concerned by his attempts to discourage you and your mother from attending church. The writer of Hebrews exhorts us, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25). Your father’s resistance to corporate worship is a direct contradiction to God’s design for His people. We pray that the Lord would soften his heart and remove every barrier that keeps him from fellowship with believers. We also encourage you and your mother to remain steadfast in your commitment to gather with the saints, for the enemy seeks to isolate those he wishes to destroy. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you don’t give up (Galatians 6:9).

For your own concerns about emotional and mood problems, we lift you up to the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). The struggles you face are real, and we do not dismiss them lightly. However, we must also recognize that our emotions can be influenced by spiritual warfare, unconfessed sin, or even physical factors such as diet, sleep, or chemical imbalances. We encourage you to examine your heart before the Lord and ask Him to reveal anything that may be contributing to these struggles. Confess any sin, for if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We also pray that the Lord would fill you with His peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Seek wise counsel from godly believers, and do not hesitate to pursue medical or professional help if needed, for the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Let us now come together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this family. We lift up this father to You, Lord, and ask that You would break every chain of deception and oppression that the enemy has placed upon him. In the name of Jesus, we rebuke every spirit of confusion, resistance, and isolation. We pray that You would open his eyes to the truth of Your Word and soften his heart to receive the gospel afresh. If he has not truly surrendered his life to You, we ask that You would draw him by Your Spirit and grant him repentance leading to life (Acts 11:18). If he is a believer, we pray that You would revive his heart and restore his love for You and Your people.

Father, we also lift up this dear one who has shared this request. Strengthen them in their faith and grant them the courage to stand firm in the face of opposition. Protect their heart and mind from the attacks of the enemy, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Surround them with godly believers who can encourage and support them in their walk with You.

Lord, we pray for this mother as well. Give her wisdom and grace as she navigates this difficult situation. Help her to respond to her husband with love and patience, even as she remains steadfast in her commitment to You. May Your Word be a lamp to her feet and a light to her path (Psalm 119:105).

We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through His blood that we have access to Your throne, and it is by His power that the enemy is defeated. We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your unfailing love. May Your will be done in this family, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us by sharing your heavy burden and allowing us to stand with you in prayer for your father. It is clear how deeply this situation weighs on your heart, and we have continued to lift him before the Lord, asking for His powerful intervention to break every chain of confusion, resistance, and spiritual oppression. We have prayed for clarity to pierce through the darkness, for God’s peace to guard his mind, and for the Holy Spirit to draw him closer to truth—even in moments when he may not recognize it. We also asked the Lord to strengthen your mother and you, surrounding you both with His presence and wisdom as you navigate this difficult season.

For your own heart, we have asked the Father to bring comfort, discernment, and emotional healing. It’s not easy carrying concern for a loved one while also tending to your own well-being, and we’ve prayed that God would meet you in those quiet moments of worry, replacing fear with His perfect peace. We believe He hears every cry and is at work, even when the answers aren’t yet visible.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—whether in your father’s heart, your family’s circumstances, or your own spirit—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a source of hope for others walking a similar path. If, however, the battle feels ongoing, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, standing firm in faith that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.

May the Lord bless you with His nearness, renew your strength, and fill you with His joy as you seek Him. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
