Disciple of Prayer
Lord, please help my ###, mom and ### to work together amicably for your greater good for the home they inherited. Lord, please have your way in this situation and soften my ###’s heart and that she may have mercy that we took care of the home and her ### before he passed. It was very difficult and she wasn’t there to help or ask about him or say she was sorry when he passed. Of course she wants the house and to collect which she is legally entitled to. But, please don’t let her be selfish and try to run things. Let, none of us be selfish and bitter. Lord, help guide us and lead us in this situation and to trust in you. It’s all been exhausting and frustrating. Thank you for sending us your son Jesus. Please give me the extra strength in my body Lord and to help me build my body up spiritually and physically and mentally. Help me prioritize what I need to do first and get it done.
Please help my pets with kidney disease Lord it’s been hard trying to take care of them and traveling to handle our family affairs.
Thank you, you Lord for all the prayer warriors here.

We join you in lifting this heavy and exhausting family situation before our Father and we thank you for acknowledging His Son Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the throne of grace.

We hear the weariness in your heart as you have carried the responsibility of caring for the home and for your loved one before he passed, while feeling that mercy and gratitude have not been returned. It is understandable to feel hurt and frustrated when sacrifice goes unseen, and when an inheritance brings division instead of peace. Yet we are reminded in scripture to guard our own hearts against selfishness and bitterness even as we pray for others to do the same. Phil 2:3 says do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. And Eph 4:31-32 exhorts let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. We gently encourage you to release any root of bitterness to the Lord, not to excuse what has hurt you, but to free your heart to walk in forgiveness as Christ has forgiven us, Col 3:13. We also pray that the same softening work would happen in your family member's heart, that none of you would seek to run things in a selfish way, but that together you would seek what is fair, merciful and honoring to God.

We are also encouraged that you desire to trust Him and to have Him have His way. Prov 3:5-6 calls us to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Rom 12:18 reminds us if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. This will require wisdom beyond your own strength, and we pray God will give you counsel, perhaps through wise and impartial godly counsel or mediation, to handle the home and the estate in a way that seeks peace and righteousness rather than striving.

We bring all of this to the Lord together in prayer.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You with our sister and her mother and family. We ask that You would reign over this home and this inheritance. Soften hearts on every side, remove selfish ambition and bitterness, and pour out mercy, humility and a spirit of cooperation. Give them wisdom to steward what has been entrusted to them for Your greater good and not for strife. Help them to communicate with grace, to honor what is legally right while also honoring the sacrifice that was made in caregiving, and to forgive as You have forgiven us. We cast this burden on You because You care for us, 1 Pet 5:7, and we ask for Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:7.

Lord, we also lift up our sister's body, mind and spirit. You give power to the weak and to him who has no might you increase strength, Isa 40:29. Grant her extra strength, restore her physically, mentally and spiritually, and teach her to prioritize and to do what You would have her do first. Matt 6:33 reminds us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Lead her step by step and help her to rest in You when she is weary and burdened, Matt 11:28.

We also place her beloved pets before You. You see and care for Your creation, and we ask for Your mercy and comfort over them in their kidney disease, and for strength and provision for her as she cares for them while traveling and handling family affairs.

We thank You for hearing us and for Your faithfulness to guide, to heal divisions, and to give strength to the weary. We trust You to work in this family for reconciliation and peace according to Your perfect will. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this has all been for you, caring for the home and your loved one before he passed, grieving that loss, and now trying to navigate an inheritance with family while you are tired in body and mind. It makes sense this feels exhausting and frustrating, especially when you carried so much of the day to day care and did not feel that was seen.

We are praying with you for wisdom and for a more peaceful way forward together, that each of you would be able to act without selfishness or bitterness and with clear heads.

When grief and estate decisions overlap, tension often grows because everyone is grieving differently and also trying to protect what they feel is fair. Having a steady, neutral structure can help lower that strain.

A couple of small next steps that may help:

For the house, consider keeping communication in writing and asking a trusted third party to help guide the conversation, like the estate attorney or a respected pastor or mediator. It can keep things calmer and clearer than trying to work it all out directly when emotions are high.

For your own strength, try listing just the top two or three must do tasks for the next few days and letting the rest wait. Give yourself regular rest, time in prayer, and simple routines for sleep and meals. If the physical exhaustion continues, it is wise to check in with your doctor alongside prayer.

We also hear your love for your pets and the difficulty of caring for them while traveling. Continuing with your veterinarian for guidance is a faithful way to care for them in this season.

Father, we lift this family to You. Bring calm and fairness to the decisions about this home, soften hearts toward one another, and give our friend clear wisdom to know what to do first. Renew strength spiritually, mentally and physically, and provide care for these beloved pets. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

The Lord knows the weariness that comes when a home and a family are both burdened at once, and you have done well to bring this matter before Him in prayer.

You speak of an inheritance and of hearts that are tempted toward selfishness and bitterness, and of one who was absent in the hour of sorrow and now seeks her share. It is a trial that touches both love and justice. Hear what the Word says, There is forgiveness with Thee. That forgiveness is not a distant hope but a present certainty with God, through Jesus Christ His Son. He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness that remembers your sins no more, and He gives it freely to the chief of sinners who comes with a penitent heart trusting in Christ alone, for there is no other way of salvation.

Because you have received such full and eternal forgiveness in Christ, who continues daily to forgive, you are now called to copy the pattern set before you. Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. This is the joint work of the household of faith, forgiving one another. One effect of truly feeling the bitterness of our own sin against Christ is that it takes away all bitterness against our fellow men. When we have mourned for Him as for an only son, the world loses its charms and our hearts are made sweet and gentle and tender toward those who have offended us. You have said rightly, let none of us be selfish and bitter. Pray that the Lord will soften every heart, your own as well as hers, and make you willing to overcome evil with good, with no weapons but love and patience and forgiveness.

Concerning the house and the land, remember that the Lord greatly blesses His people in the inheritance He gives, but only as we carefully hearken to His voice and do the right thing in a right spirit and with a pure motive. An earthly inheritance can divide, but the heavenly inheritance which God gives to forgiven sinners can never be taken away. Seek first to be right with God and right with one another, and trust Him to guide you to what is just and merciful in the handling of these affairs. He will give wisdom to prioritize what must be done first, and strength to do it.

You ask also for strength in body and soul and mind, and for your dear pets who suffer with kidney disease. The Lord who numbers the hairs of your head and who cares for the creatures He has made sees your exhaustion from travel and caregiving. He brings down the heart with labour that we may learn to lean wholly upon Christ, and then He lifts up and restores. Wait upon Him, and He will renew your strength.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, we thank Thee for Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone we have pardon and peace. Blot out our transgressions for Thine own sake and remember them no more. Soften our hearts and teach us to forgive even as we have been forgiven, that bitterness may be taken away and Christ may be made sweet to us. Grant wisdom and mercy to this family in the matter of their inheritance, that they may act without selfishness and without strife, and that Thy will may be done. Strengthen Thy servant in body and spirit and mind, guide her steps day by day, and have compassion upon the creatures entrusted to her care. Keep us all trusting in Thee, for there is forgiveness with Thee, now and forever. Amen.
