Family

Your prayer for salvation, healing, and protection for yourself and your family is precious, and it is right that you bring all these needs before the Lord in the name of Jesus. That name itself means “the Lord is salvation,” and it is the only name under heaven given for our rescue. The deepest need any of us has is not physical or temporary, but to be made right with God, to receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. This is not something we can earn or work up through our own efforts. Salvation is a gift of grace, received by confessing with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. When that confession is real, it brings salvation, not just a one-time statement, but a life submitted to His authority.

There is no other provision for sin. God has placed our salvation entirely in the work of His Son. We are His workmanship, His poem, created anew in Christ. That means any inclination to boast or to think we have added something to our rescue must be set aside. The command to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling is not a call to work for it, but to live it out seriously, with reverent devotion, knowing that God Himself is at work in you. It is a daily turning from self-rule and a daily clinging to Christ as the captain of your salvation.

Healing is a wonderful display of God’s compassion. Scripture shows us that Jesus bore our sicknesses, yet it also teaches that God does not always will physical healing in every case this side of eternity. Paul prayed three times for a thorn in the flesh to be removed, but God’s answer was sufficient grace. The greatest miracle God ever does in any life is the miracle of salvation. Physical wholeness is secondary to spiritual wholeness. When we come to the Lord’s Table, we remember that His body was broken for our ultimate healing, the restoration of our souls to God. Cling to that first, and trust His wisdom with your body and the bodies of your loved ones.

Protection is a theme woven through the Psalms, and you are wise to pray for it. Yet sometimes the most profound protection is the way God draws His people into the family of faith. A strange but beautiful truth is that the bonds we share in Christ can become deeper even than natural blood ties, especially if some family members remain outside the faith. Jesus Himself knew the pain of misunderstanding from His own brothers, who did not yet believe in Him. If your walk with Him creates friction, do not be surprised. You have been brought into a household where the ties are eternal, and the fellowship of believers can become a refuge and a strength when earthly family relationships are strained. Pray for your family’s salvation with perseverance, but also rest in the shelter of the household of God.

Today is the day of salvation. Do not neglect so great an offer. The door stands open, and Jesus receives all who come to Him. He is the very initiator of salvation, the One who suffered to bring many sons and daughters into glory. Your prayer in Jesus’ name is heard. May the grace of God that brings salvation encourage your heart, and may His peace guard you and your family. Keep believing, keep confessing Him as Lord, and keep trusting that His eternal purposes for you are good beyond all you can now see.
