Beloved of All
We have joined with you in prayer for your family, for safety as you drive, for healing, and for the Lord's protection over each of you.
We do not always understand all that God does in healing. Sometimes healing comes at once, sometimes it comes gradually, step by step. Scripture shows Jesus healing in many different ways, at times with a touch, at times with only a word, at times instantly and at one time gradually, not bound to any single pattern. What encourages us is that every true healing is from Him. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and those natural processes are no less divine because He is the one who created them. He also brings healing that goes beyond the body, bringing wholeness to the mind and heart where there have been wounds and scars.
We also see in Scripture that God relates His healing work to what Christ has done for us. Matthew points to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our sicknesses and infirmities, and shows that Jesus in His ministry bore those burdens in healing the sick. When we remember the bread of communion as His body broken for us, we are reminded that His suffering reaches to both spiritual and physical need. At the same time we recognize we cannot presume to know His will in every case, as Paul prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and the Lord had a different purpose in allowing it to remain. So we pray with confidence in His power and love, while resting in His wisdom.
For your family we are asking that the Lord will be with you as you go out and as you come in. As He promised Jacob when He told him to return to his family and to his land that He would be with him, so He promises to be with His people today. We pray He will give you wisdom and watchful care on the road, keeping you alert and guarding you from harm, and that He will slow your steps when needed and keep you from haste. We pray for His healing touch where there is sickness or pain, whether that healing comes in a moment or through a steady process over time, and for His peace to guard your hearts and minds.
May the Lord guide every detail as you care for one another, may His love prevail in your home, and may He help you to meet any difficulty with kindness and grace. We continue to lift your family before Him, trusting His power in the physical realm, His authority in the spiritual realm, and His faithful presence over all that concerns you, in Jesus' name.
