We are standing with you in prayer for your dad and for you as you both walk through this anxious and difficult time.
We understand how heavy this is, knowing he will be held in a cell while the legal process continues, especially with his claustrophobia and PTSD from being held before, and with his blood pressure running high. The Lord sees his distress and yours, and He invites us to bring every worry to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, and Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
We also hear your heart when you say he is flawed but a good man at heart. We gently share what Scripture teaches, that we all are flawed before a holy God, for Romans 3:23 says for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, and Jeremiah 17:9 says The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt, who can know it. That is why we all need the mercy and the blood of Jesus, not because we are good enough, but because He is merciful and He alone can cleanse and restore us. It is beautiful that you are praying for him to trust in God and lean on Him as his refuge, for that is exactly where true peace and hope are found.
We join together and pray for him now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that we can approach Your throne of grace through His blood. We lift up this dear father to You. You know his anxiety, his claustrophobia, his memories of trauma, and the fear that rises in that small cell. We ask for Your mercy to cover him and for the peace of Jesus to run through his anxious soul and guard his heart and mind. We pray You would calm his spirit, steady his breathing, and be his refuge and strength in that place. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Lord, be present with him in that cell, let him feel that he is not alone, and uphold him with Your righteous hand.
We also pray for his physical body, for his blood pressure to be stabilized and for those caring for him to be attentive to his medical needs. Give wisdom to the staff and guards to show care and watch over him. We pray for the legal process, that You would grant Your mercy and justice, that the court case would proceed in a timely and orderly way, and that the outcome would be just and favorable according to Your will. Romans 8:28 reminds us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, so we trust Your sovereign hand even in this.
We pray for this child who loves his dad, comfort this anxious heart as well, and help them both to trust in You more deeply through this trial and to lean on You as their refuge. Draw this father closer to You, bring him to repentance and faith where needed, and let him know the forgiveness and new life that comes only through Jesus. We pray all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep casting your cares on Him day by day, to stay in the Word and in prayer, and to let his medical providers know about his blood pressure and his history of PTSD so he can receive proper care while he is held. Keep trusting the Lord as your refuge, for He is faithful to be present in every hard place.
