Family member going through legal process

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my dad who was charged with a misdeamenor. They're gonna hold him in a cell for awhile while they go through with the process and we're both very anxious. He's extremely claustrophobic and even has PTSD from being held in a cell previously. His blood pressure has been running very high, so please pray for him! Pray that God's Mercy and the Blood of Jesus will run through his anxious soul and give him peace. Pray too that his court case will be quick and speedy, and it will turn out for a favorable outcome. He's flawed, but a good man at heart. So pray that he'll trust in God too and lean on God as his refuge! Thank you all.

We are standing with you in prayer for your dad and for you as you both walk through this anxious and difficult time.

We understand how heavy this is, knowing he will be held in a cell while the legal process continues, especially with his claustrophobia and PTSD from being held before, and with his blood pressure running high. The Lord sees his distress and yours, and He invites us to bring every worry to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, and Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

We also hear your heart when you say he is flawed but a good man at heart. We gently share what Scripture teaches, that we all are flawed before a holy God, for Romans 3:23 says for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, and Jeremiah 17:9 says The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt, who can know it. That is why we all need the mercy and the blood of Jesus, not because we are good enough, but because He is merciful and He alone can cleanse and restore us. It is beautiful that you are praying for him to trust in God and lean on Him as his refuge, for that is exactly where true peace and hope are found.

We join together and pray for him now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that we can approach Your throne of grace through His blood. We lift up this dear father to You. You know his anxiety, his claustrophobia, his memories of trauma, and the fear that rises in that small cell. We ask for Your mercy to cover him and for the peace of Jesus to run through his anxious soul and guard his heart and mind. We pray You would calm his spirit, steady his breathing, and be his refuge and strength in that place. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Lord, be present with him in that cell, let him feel that he is not alone, and uphold him with Your righteous hand.

We also pray for his physical body, for his blood pressure to be stabilized and for those caring for him to be attentive to his medical needs. Give wisdom to the staff and guards to show care and watch over him. We pray for the legal process, that You would grant Your mercy and justice, that the court case would proceed in a timely and orderly way, and that the outcome would be just and favorable according to Your will. Romans 8:28 reminds us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, so we trust Your sovereign hand even in this.

We pray for this child who loves his dad, comfort this anxious heart as well, and help them both to trust in You more deeply through this trial and to lean on You as their refuge. Draw this father closer to You, bring him to repentance and faith where needed, and let him know the forgiveness and new life that comes only through Jesus. We pray all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep casting your cares on Him day by day, to stay in the Word and in prayer, and to let his medical providers know about his blood pressure and his history of PTSD so he can receive proper care while he is held. Keep trusting the Lord as your refuge, for He is faithful to be present in every hard place.

Thank you for trusting us with this. We can hear how much you love your dad and how anxious this waiting feels for both of you, especially with his history of being held before and his struggle with enclosed spaces.

It makes sense that this would weigh heavily on you. Watching someone you love feel trapped and unwell while you cannot be there to comfort him is so hard, and high blood pressure adds another layer of worry.

One gentle step that can help is making sure the people caring for him know what he is carrying. If you are able to be in touch with his attorney or the facility, you might confirm that the medical staff there are aware of his high blood pressure and his past trauma around confinement so they can monitor him appropriately. We encourage him to let the staff know right away if he feels unwell, alongside our prayers. Staying in close contact with his attorney can also help you both understand the timeline and what to expect next, which sometimes eases a little of the uncertainty.

We are holding you both in prayer and asking God to be near as you walk through this.

Father, we lift this dad to You and ask for Your mercy and peace to settle his anxious heart in that cell. Guard his health and let him sense You as his refuge. Give his child comfort and strength while they wait, and guide the whole legal process with wisdom and fairness. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your cry on behalf of your father has been heard and we join you in laying him before the throne of grace in prayer.

We understand the anxiety that presses upon you both, the narrow cell, the memory of former confinement, the weakness of the body with high blood pressure, and the fear that rises with it. Even David, who as a youth went in simple confidence to meet the giant Goliath and who was at home in battles, confessed that he was sometimes afraid, and his remedy was this, When I am afraid I will trust in Thee. You do well to ask that your father may learn that holy art, not only to be delivered from fear after it comes, but to trust and therefore not to fear.

We will pray that the eternal God will be his refuge and that underneath will be the everlasting arms. He who rides upon the heaven in your help has not changed. He was a refuge in former years and He is a refuge still, and His honor is pledged for the salvation of all who rest upon Jesus. There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked, but there is peace with God through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and that peace the Lord can keep in perfect peace when heart and flesh would otherwise fail.

We entreat the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus through the blood of the everlasting covenant, to visit your father in that cell. May He still the tumult of an anxious soul, may the blood of Jesus speak peace to his conscience, and may that peace of God which passes all understanding keep his heart and mind. We ask the Lord to be merciful to his body, to calm his fears, to ease the distress of his confinement and the burden of his claustrophobia and former trauma, and to guard his health in this trial.

We pray also for the process before him, that the Lord in His wisdom would grant a speedy and just and merciful outcome according to His will, and that even in the waiting your father may be kept where he shall fear no fear because the Lord is with him. Hide him as a worm hides in the earth, hide him in his God, in the cleft of the Rock till the danger is past.

And we pray above all that he may trust in God and lean upon Him as his refuge, taking God at His word and believing Him through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. It is true humility to take God at His word, and whosoever rests his soul's salvation alone upon Jesus shall find Him a nail fastened in a sure place.

We will continue to bear you both up before the Lord, that you may taste and see that the peace of God is good and that whether in time or in eternity you may dwell in safety, for the promises of God must stand fast.
