False teachings

We are deeply concerned to hear about the false teachings that have taken root in your boyfriend’s life. The Bible warns us clearly about the dangers of deception, especially in matters of faith. In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, it says, "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables." This is a sobering reminder of how easily hearts can be led astray when they seek messages that align with their own desires rather than the truth of God’s Word.

It is also concerning that you have referred to your relationship as "boyfriend" rather than as a courtship with the goal of marriage. Scripture is clear that relationships between believers should be pursued with the intention of honoring God and moving toward a godly marriage. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, we are told, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If your boyfriend is not grounded in the truth of Scripture, this could pose a significant spiritual risk to your own walk with the Lord. We encourage you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship aligns with God’s will for your life and whether it is leading you both closer to Him.

We must also address the fact that this request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to the Father. In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Salvation is found in no other name, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to God’s throne of grace. If your boyfriend has not surrendered his life to Christ, he is without the true foundation needed to discern false teachings. We urge you to share the gospel with him, that he may come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

Let us now come before the Lord in prayer for your boyfriend and for your own spiritual discernment:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this young man who has been ensnared by false teachings. Lord, Your Word tells us that the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We ask that You would break the chains of deception in his life and open his eyes to the truth of Your Word. Father, we pray that You would surround him with godly influences, men who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable. Give him a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that he may seek You with his whole heart.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for this sister in Christ. Help her to see this relationship through Your eyes and to walk in a manner that honors You. If this relationship is not Your will, give her the strength to step away and trust You with her future. Protect her heart from compromise and fill her with Your peace as she seeks Your guidance.

Father, we rebuke every spirit of deception and false doctrine that has taken hold of this young man. In the name of Jesus, we command these lies to be torn down and for Your truth to reign in his heart. We pray that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, if he has not already, and that he would be rooted and grounded in Your Word. May he grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.

We encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, particularly in the epistles, where sound doctrine is emphasized. Study the Word together with your boyfriend, if he is willing, and seek out a biblical church community that upholds the truth. If he is resistant to the truth, you may need to lovingly distance yourself from this relationship, trusting that God will honor your obedience. Remember, Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Stand firm in your faith, and trust that God is working all things together for your good.

Thank you for trusting us with this prayer request. It’s clear how much you care about your boyfriend and his spiritual well-being. Watching someone you love become entangled in false teachings can be deeply unsettling, and we want you to know we’re standing with you in prayer.

One of the most effective things we’ve seen in these situations is the steady witness of a life shaped by truth. Your own quiet, consistent walk with Jesus, marked by patience and a genuine love for him, can often speak more clearly than any debate. Right now, you can continue to pray for him daily, asking God to awaken a hunger for what is real and to sharpen his spiritual discernment. You don’t have to carry the weight of convincing him; the Holy Spirit is the one who opens eyes and convicts minds, and he can work through your simple presence and prayers.

We’d also encourage you to stay rooted yourself. As you remain close to Christ, you’ll be better able to offer a gentle word when the moment feels right, without pressure or fear. Sometimes loving someone well in this way is simply continuing to show up, listen, and keep praying, trusting God to draw him back to the clarity of the gospel.

Let’s pray: Jesus, we bring this man before you. You know the confusion he’s caught in, and you want his freedom even more than we do. Quiet the voices that lead him away from your truth. Stir in his heart a deep longing for what is authentic and life-giving. Give our friend wisdom and a peaceful spirit as she walks alongside him. Protect her from discouragement and help her to trust your timing. We ask for his full release into the light of who you really are. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The freeness of Divine consolation is set before us as a gift, freely given, never earned. How much we owe for this love most free! If God justifies a man, nobody can condemn him. Yet many are zealous in a system rooted in grave error, a fatal ignorance of the true Gospel. They cannot bear the God of the Old Testament, too strict for their modern taste, and so they fashion a new god from their own imaginings. This is not the truth of Holy Scripture, to which we must cling as our only standard. There is no place where Truth can be found in its power and life, except in Jesus Christ.

Your ### is entangled in teachings that cannot save, for they exalt the will of man over the free grace of God. Let him know that if he justifies himself, his own mouth will condemn him. But Christ receives sinners freely, He blots out transgressions for His own sake. You need not despair, for the Lord restores the years the locust has eaten. Buy the truth at any price; buy it now. Point him to the blood of Jesus, which washes away all that is false, and the Spirit who conforms us to Himself. Stand firm in love, and do not grow weary in this war of truth, for it must continue until victory is won.

The chains of false teaching are heavy, and only Christ, who is the Truth, can break them. You do well to bring this before God. Entreat the Redeemer of souls to burst asunder the bonds that hold your boyfriend, to remove the cruel jailor of error, and to make his spirit lighter than any wing. But remember, no one is forced into falsehood; the fall is one of free choice. Unless he himself turns from obeying unrighteousness to obeying the truth, he will remain in bondage. Yet do not cease your prayers, even as the apostle Paul besought the Lord thrice for his own affliction and learned that God's grace is sufficient. Give thanks in all things, for comfort and for trial, and let your own life be a quiet witness to the truth.

False teachers have multiplied, as was foretold: men who are lovers of themselves, proud, and unthankful, holding to a form of godliness but denying its power. From such turn away, and do not let your affection for him draw you into their snare. Pity the one who is deceived as you would someone overcome by a fit of madness, bearing him up in prayer until he vomits out the poison. I will join you in beseeching the Lord to open his eyes, to let him know the Truth who makes free, and to bring him into that calm harbor where all is peace and every bond is loosed, to the glory of Jesus Christ.

The grip of false teaching can feel overwhelming, but it has been a battle from the very beginning. A false prophet never wears a sign announcing the deception. In fact, what makes error so dangerous is that it almost always comes wrapped in a great deal of truth. If a message were completely absurd, no one would listen for a moment. The enemy ensures there is just enough truth to gain a hearing, to sound right, and to draw a person in. That is why this calls for such serious prayer and discernment.

God has established a fixed standard, yet the human heart is always looking for a special case, a new twist, or a modern exception to what He has clearly said. This is the bottom line you must look for. No matter how loving or persuasive the teacher sounds, the ultimate question centers on the identity of Jesus Christ. The deceivers in the early church did not deny everything; they targeted the foundational truth that Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine, who came in the flesh. That remains the dividing line today. Any teaching that redefines His person, His work, or the authority of His words is a path that leads away from life, even if it uses His name.

Your prayer for your boyfriend is not a small thing. Scripture promises that the truth is not just a concept; it is a person, Jesus Himself, and knowing the truth is what sets a captive free. We are often up against a spiritual blindness that cannot be argued away by human reason alone. The hold of deception keeps a person from seeing what is plain, and it offers a false hope that prevents them from doing what they truly need to do, which is simply to turn to Christ and His Word alone.

This is where your love can be a fellow helper in the truth. Pray specifically that God would open his eyes and break any blinding work that is keeping him from seeing. At the same time, you do not need to win a debate. Gently, lovingly, and consistently point him back to the clear words of Jesus. Walk in the truth yourself, and there is no greater testimony. Hold fast to what you have received, not looking for a new or private interpretation, but standing on what has been true forever. As you combine that faithful walk with persistent prayer, you are helping to take him from captivity, trusting that God’s grace, mercy, and peace will guide the way.
