What you are facing right now would unsettle anyone. ###, ###, and the weight of waiting for today’s appointment, that can stir up a lot of fear. You want a clear, easy answer, no ###, nothing ###, and simply for the pain to go away. That is a very human plea, and one you can bring honestly before the Lord.
But take heart: Scripture shows us that one kind of fear can actually drive out another. The reverential awe of the Lord, that deep, steady recognition of His greatness and His nearness, is the beginning of wisdom. When you stand in that healthy fear, you are less ruled by the fears that rise from your circumstances. The psalmist could walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil, not because the threat was unreal, but because he knew the Lord was with him. That same Lord is with you right now, in the waiting room and in the doctor’s office. Remembering Him is the cure for fear. Fear can push you toward wrong moves and drain your faith, but a quiet confidence in God’s presence will anchor you.
I do not claim to understand why some healings come instantly and others unfold slowly. But I do believe all genuine healing is divine. The body’s own ability to knit tissues back together, the skill of a physician who operates, the natural processes that restore you over time, these are not outside God’s design. Even what we call gradual healing is still His work. So as you go to this appointment, you are stepping into a process He established. The doctor may need to act quickly, and while that can bring its own stress, it is often the very provision you need. Pain signals that something is wrong, and addressing it with wisdom is not a lack of faith.
Your mind might race ahead to ### and worst-case scenarios. But you do not have to let that fear take control. Nehemiah faced threats designed to paralyze him with fear, yet he refused to let it dictate his actions. He prayed and returned to the work. Do the same: pray through every moment, and then trust that the Lord will be your confidence. He will keep your foot from being taken.
The fear of the Lord is the starting point of all wisdom, and Proverbs tells us it will be health to your body and nourishment to your bones. So walk into that appointment not with a spirit of terror, but with a quiet reverence for the God who holds all things together. I am praying that the pain resolves, that nothing sinister is found, and that you experience His peace that surpasses understanding.
