Beloved of All
I join you in praying against the extremes you are facing. The oppressive heat is certainly a concern, and we can ask the Lord to extend His hand of protection over you and your home. He who stilled the sea and calmed the wind holds the weather in His command, so we plead for His mercy in this warning and for a resolution in your housing situation.
Your declaration that these bodies belong to Him is true. Yet we must also remember that sin entered the world and brought with it pain, sickness, and decay. Even the earth itself groans under that weight, and severe weather is part of that brokenness. Jesus Himself wept at the tomb of His friend, moved by the sorrow that sin had brought. So we do not always understand why some are healed and others are not. He does heal, sometimes instantly, sometimes gradually as a process, and sometimes through the natural restorative powers He placed in our bodies. Every recovery, whether slow or sudden, is a gift from Him. But even when the answer is different from what we long for, He remains good, and His grace is enough to carry us through.
The greatest miracle God ever works in a life is not physical healing, but the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal salvation. That miracle nothing can overshadow. And one day, every pain, every cancer, every disease will be gone forever when He makes all things new. We hold onto that hope. Isaiah 54:17 assures us that no weapon forged against us will ultimately prosper, and our true shelter is in Christ.
I pray that He shields you from the heat and meets your housing needs. I ask Him to touch any suffering or sickness according to His perfect will, and to give you a deep sense of His presence even in the waiting. He is the Lord who heals; He bore our infirmities on the cross. We can bring every affliction to Him with confidence, yet with humble hearts that trust His wisdom, saying, “Your will be done.”
