We join you in lifting up your ex before the Lord and we thank you for your compassionate heart in praying for his salvation and wellbeing even after your relationship has ended. It is a beautiful reflection of Christ's love to intercede for those who have been close to us, and we stand with you in asking God to draw him to Himself.
We know that God desires all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth as we read in 1 Timothy 2:4, and that the Lord is patient, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance in 2 Peter 3:9. We pray that God will soften his heart and give him a new heart and a new spirit within him according to Ezekiel 36:26, that he would truly come to faith in Christ and be born again. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and we pray that your ex would come to understand that it is only through Jesus that he can be saved and have access to God.
We also bring his serious and life threatening health problems before the Great Physician. We pray for God's mercy and healing hand upon his body, for wisdom for those caring for him, and for strength and peace in the midst of fear and suffering. We remember the promise in Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, and in James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We ask for healing according to God's perfect will, whether that be physical restoration here or the ultimate healing found in eternal life through Christ.
We pray too for his healing from trauma and emotional and behavioral issues. The Lord sees his brokenness and his past wounds. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. We ask God to break chains of dysfunction and to bring deep inner healing that only Christ can give. We pray for that wake up call you mentioned, that God in His love would graciously convict him and lead him to repentance. For whom the Lord loves, he chastens in Hebrews 12:6, and we pray that any discipline from the Lord would be received with humility and would lead him to turn away from dysfunctional ways and to walk in newness of life as in Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
We join you in praying for his loved ones as well, for their salvation and wellbeing. We claim the hope of Acts 16:31 Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household, and ask God to work in the lives of his family and friends and to draw each of them to saving faith in Jesus.
We encourage you as you continue to pray for him to guard your own heart and to trust God's sovereignty. While your season as a couple has ended, we pray that you will find peace in entrusting him fully to the Lord and that you will continue to seek God's will for your own life and future. We pray that both of you, if you enter future relationships, will pursue courtship that honors God with the goal of a godly marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, as God intends for our good and His glory. We encourage you to continue to forgive as Christ has forgiven you and to walk in hope knowing God is able to do exceedingly more than we ask.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up this dear man to You. Lord, save him, open his eyes to see his need for Jesus, grant him repentance and faith and wash him clean by the blood of Christ. Touch his body and bring healing according to Your will, comfort him in his suffering, and use this trial to draw him to Yourself. Heal his heart from trauma, renew his mind, and deliver him from every dysfunctional and destructive pattern. Give him a holy wake up call that he cannot ignore and lead him into wholeness and obedience to You. Save his loved ones also and draw his whole household to Yourself, and provide for their wellbeing. Give our friend who is praying peace, wisdom, and continued love that reflects You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
