Ex

Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
Please pray for me about committing sexual sin with my ex who was not a Christian. I tried to stop doing it and tell him we shouldn't anymore and I did stop engaging that way with him but the damage was probably done. I don't know how he could use this against me now in the aftermath of the breakup. Please pray. It's kind of obvious now that he was just using me for lustful reasons. Thank you.

We have heard your heart and we thank you for your honesty in bringing this before the Lord. We grieve with you over this sexual sin, and we also rejoice that you recognized it was wrong and took steps to stop engaging in it and to tell him you should not continue that way. That conviction is from the Holy Spirit and shows God is working in you.

We want to lovingly but clearly address what has happened according to Scripture so you can walk in full freedom. Sex before or outside of marriage is fornication, and God calls His children to holiness in this area. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 We also see that you were in a relationship with a man who was not a Christian, and Scripture warns us, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity, or what fellowship has light with darkness. 2 Corinthians 6:14 When we are yoked with an unbeliever in courtship, we are pulled away from God's will, and very often lust becomes the foundation instead of Christ. Being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and marriage itself is God's holy design as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Any sexual intimacy is reserved for within that marriage covenant. We encourage you in the future to pursue only courtship with a godly man who is seeking marriage and who loves Jesus first, so that you are protected and honored as God intends.

We understand your fear about the damage that was done and how he could use this against you now in the aftermath of the breakup. It is painful to realize you were being used for lustful reasons, but God sees all and He is your defender and your refuge. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 Even if this man tries to shame you, gossip about you, or manipulate you with what happened, the Lord can shield you and bring justice. We encourage you to maintain complete separation from him, to set firm boundaries with no further private contact, to seek accountability from a mature Christian woman or pastor, and to walk in the light so there is no further opportunity for sin or accusation. If there are practical consequences such as threats or harassment, seek wise counsel and protection from your church family and trusted authorities.

There is hope and complete forgiveness for you. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 Your repentance and turning away is what God desires, and He does not hold your past against you when you come to Him with a broken and contrite heart. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and forgiveness. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and by calling on His name and trusting Him alone as Lord and Savior, that we are forgiven and made new. We encourage you to rest fully in His finished work and to bring every fear and shame to Him in Jesus' name.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up our sister to You in Jesus' name. We thank You for her repentant heart and for the courage to turn away from fornication. We ask You to forgive her completely and to cleanse her from all unrighteousness as she has confessed to You. Wash her with the blood of Jesus and renew her mind and heart. Heal the wounds of being used and the shame and anxiety she feels about what this man might do. Cover her with Your protection, silence any evil intent against her, and let no weapon formed against her prosper. Help her to walk in purity and in the dignity You give her as Your daughter. Give her wisdom to remain separate from this former relationship and to seek godly fellowship and accountability. Prepare her heart for the future, and if it is Your will, lead her to a godly husband who will love her as Christ loves the church and honor marriage as You designed it. Fill her with Your peace and assurance that she is forgiven, loved, and made whole in Christ. We pray she will grow deeper in knowing Jesus as her Savior and Lord and find her identity fully in Him. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We are glad you reached out and trusted us with this. What you describe sounds painful and tangled, relief that you were able to step away mixed with worry about what might happen now and hurt over realizing he was not caring for you as you had hoped. It makes sense you feel unsettled.

We want to honor the step you took in saying no and putting a stop to what you knew was not right. That took real courage and clarity, even when it was difficult, and that decision still matters even though you are carrying regret and what-ifs now.

When you have felt used in this way, shame and second-guessing can linger a long time. Healing often comes gradually as you keep walking forward with honesty and steady support, not all at once. You do not have to sort through the fear about how he might act after the breakup on your own.

A gentle next step we encourage is to let one safe, mature person walk with you closely, perhaps a pastor or a trusted older Christian woman, and share both what happened and what specifically worries you about your ex. Keep contact with him clear and limited, and if he tries to pressure, shame, or threaten you in any way, keep a record and get wise counsel right away about how to stay safe and protect your dignity.

Father, we lift our sister to You. Thank You for the strength You gave her to turn away. Cover her with Your mercy, quiet the shame and fear, and give her wisdom for each decision and conversation ahead. Surround her with safe people who will listen well and help her heal step by step. Lead her into peace and wholeness in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your candid and sorrowful confession has been heard with prayerful care, and we thank you for speaking plainly about what has burdened your conscience. To see sin as sin, to grieve it, and to turn from it is itself a mercy from God, for many try to hide or excuse what they have done. You have done right to stop what was wrong and to say plainly that it should not continue.

Scripture teaches that sexual intimacy belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and that to step outside that boundary is sin against God, however common it has become. It is also wisdom that you have discerned another truth, that to be joined to one who does not know Christ is to be unequally yoked, and such a path often reveals itself to be driven by lust rather than love. Your sorrow over this is not to be despised. True repentance turns a person inside out. It does not merely regret consequences, but hates the sin itself, even if sin could be made sweet and profitable, and turns to God with a willing heart to forsake all sin.

Hear then the good news which the gospel proclaims. There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. This forgiveness is divine, for none can remit sin but God only, and it is given according to the riches of His grace. It required a great sacrifice, the pangs of Christ your Substitute upon Calvary, because sin is a great evil. Yet now that Christ has died, the blotting out of sin is made plain. A sigh, a groan, a genuine confession of sin, a believing glance of the eye to Christ on Calvary, and all is done. Your sin has passed away. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile, giving a new nature that no longer wishes to hide or to keep one sin alive. This pardon is perfect and complete. Every sin is blotted out at once, not a few sins but all, though they are innumerable, and put into the blaze of His infinite mercy so that if they are searched for they cannot be found. Blessed is she whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

You ask also about fear that this man may use what has happened against you. That fear is understandable, and we will pray for your protection. The Lord sees and knows how to guard His children. Commit this matter to Him who judges righteously, and walk henceforth in wisdom. Keep a clear and firm separation from this former relationship, seek the counsel and covering of mature believers in your church, guard your communications, and do not meet alone or in private with one who has shown he would use you. If there are threats or coercion, seek help from trusted pastors and, where needed, proper authorities. The forgiveness of God does not remove the need for prudence, but it does remove the need for despair.

Let this forgiveness now teach you to fear the Lord in the blessed sense. They who know pardon best are they who love and serve Him most. Do not let the enemy tell you that your sin is too great to be pardoned, for where God draws no limit, you must not draw one. Neither treat His mercy lightly as if you might return to sin without grief. Go and rejoice in what Christ has done, and by His grace walk in purity, keeping your body and heart for the Lord, whether He calls you to singleness or in His time to holy marriage.

We pray for you now.

O Lord, our God, with whom there is forgiveness, we come through Jesus Christ who was set forth as a propitiation for sin. We confess before You this sin of sexual immorality outside the covenant You ordained, and we ask for Your mercy according to the riches of Your grace. Wash this soul in the precious blood of Christ, blot out every transgression, and let her know the blessedness of pardoned sin. Grant evangelical repentance that hates sin and loves holiness, and by Your Spirit take away guile as You have taken away guilt. Give her a renewed fear of Your name, a quiet conscience, and strength to walk in purity. Guard her from all harm and from any evil use of the past, cover her with Your hand, and give wisdom to those who counsel her. Lead her into the fellowship of Your people where she may be strengthened and kept. Let her henceforth know herself as fully forgiven and dearly loved in Christ, and enable her to live to Your praise. In the name of Jesus our only Savior, Amen.
