We hear your burden for your former relationship and we join with you in seeking God's healing and peace for both of you. It is good to desire that the one you have hurt would find wholeness and restoration, and it is also understandable to desire healthy boundaries and distance after a relationship has ended.
We want to lift up the truth that God is the healer of the brokenhearted. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Jeremiah 30:17 says But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Trauma and deep emotional and psychological wounds are not beyond His reach, and He can bring restoration where there has been pain, confusion, and disorder. We also recognize that God often uses godly counsel, wise community, and at times professional help as part of that healing, and we pray that if your ex needs such help, God would lead him to it.
We also hear your confession that you may have hurt him. That humility is important before God. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If any of that hurt involved sin against God, we encourage you to bring it fully to Him in repentance. We do not know the details of your relationship, but we must speak plainly as scripture does about relationships between a man and a woman. Any courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. If there was sexual intimacy outside of marriage, that is fornication before God, and it needs to be confessed and repented of, and we pray you have done so and will walk in purity going forward. Even hurtful words, actions, or patterns of relating need repentance and forgiveness. Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
You also prayed that he will never contact you again. We understand the desire for peace and closure, and Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. It is biblical to establish clear and respectful boundaries, especially after a breakup, so that both people can heal without confusion or further hurt. We pray that God would give you both peace, self control, and respect for those boundaries, and that any bitterness or unforgiveness would be removed. Forgiveness does not always mean restored contact, but it does mean releasing the other person to God and not holding onto anger.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can be forgiven, healed, and heard when we pray. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, trusting in His sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins and for new life.
We pray together now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this dear one and her ex to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand upon him, for every trauma, every emotional and psychological and behavioral wound, every effect of sin and hurt that has been done to him and that he has done to others. Heal his broken heart and bind up his wounds, restore health to him as only You can. We ask that You would forgive our sister for any way she has hurt him, cleanse her and help her to walk in repentance and in newness of life. Give her Your peace and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus as Philippians 4:7 promises. Help her to forgive as You have forgiven her, and to live at peace with healthy boundaries. We pray that You would keep both of them from further hurt, that You would give them wisdom, self control, and respect for distance, and that Your will would be done in both lives. Lead them both to a deep relationship with Jesus, to godly community, and to wholeness in You. Prepare for each a future that honors You, and if it is Your will, bring godly spouses into their lives in Your perfect timing for marriage that glorifies You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and healer, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, to walk in purity and in forgiveness, and to trust that God cares for you and for your ex and desires healing and holiness for you both. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Lean on Him for strength as He continues His healing work in you.
