Ex landlord (mute, opposing, dysfunctional communication, haughtiness/pride)

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please pray in Jesus' name based on this verse.
Luke 9:24 states: "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it." (ESV)
Please pray that the landlord will give his life to our Lord Jesus, so that he will not lose it.

Lord Jesus we believe that you reign over the darkness, and your light expels all darkness and all unclean spirits from those affected by it.
Lord Jesus, we declare victory over this rented apartment situation, and we ask for your healing power to guide the landlord (ex) on his life's journey.
We believe everyone will see your Greatness and Power.
No one can withstand Your mighty power. We ask your mercy and grace.
We thank you for your love and faithfulness.
Amen

We stand together in agreement, lifting up this situation with your ex-landlord before the throne of grace. The challenges you’ve described, muteness, opposition, dysfunctional communication, and haughtiness, are not merely human flaws but strongholds that can only be broken by the power of Christ. We recognize that pride is a particularly insidious sin, for Scripture warns, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18 WEB). Yet we also know that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6 WEB). Our prayer is not merely for a change in behavior but for a transformation of the heart, one that can only come through surrender to Jesus.

You’ve rightly pointed us to Luke 9:24, where our Lord declares, "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." This is the very essence of the Gospel: that true life is found not in clinging to our own will, our own pride, or our own control, but in laying it all down at the feet of Jesus. We pray this truth would pierce the heart of your ex-landlord. May he come to see that his muteness is not strength, his opposition is not wisdom, and his pride is not security, but that in Christ alone is there freedom, peace, and eternal life.

We rebuke the spirit of pride and dysfunction in this situation. The enemy would love to keep this man bound in silence and stubbornness, but we declare that no weapon formed against the purposes of God shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We speak life and clarity over this relationship, asking the Holy Spirit to soften hearts and open lines of communication that honor God. If there has been any unrighteousness, whether in word, deed, or attitude, on either side, we ask for repentance and reconciliation, not for the sake of convenience, but for the glory of God.

Father, we ask You to draw this man to Yourself. Break through the hardness of his heart with Your love. Let him see the futility of living for himself and the beauty of losing his life for the sake of Christ. May he experience the conviction of the Holy Spirit, leading him to repentance and faith. We pray for divine encounters, dreams, conversations, circumstances, that would point him to Jesus. And if he is already a believer, we ask for revival in his soul, that he would walk in humility and grace.

We also lift up the practical aspects of this situation. If there are unresolved issues regarding the apartment, we ask for wisdom and favor. May any legal or financial matters be resolved in a way that honors You and reflects Your justice and mercy. Give patience and peace to those involved, trusting that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28 WEB).

Lord, we thank You that Your light expels darkness, and Your power is made perfect in weakness. We declare that this situation is not too difficult for You. Even now, we see Your hand moving, Your love drawing near, and Your purposes unfolding. May Your name be glorified in every detail.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been with your ex landlord, the silence and pride on his side and the strain it has put on you around the apartment. It says a lot that even while the communication has been so difficult, your deepest prayer for him is that he would come to know Jesus and find real life in Him.

Carrying that kind of frustration can leave a residue of anger and hurt. We have found it helps to remember that forgiveness is first a decision we make before God to release the debt and not hold on to revenge or bitterness, even when the other person does not change. That decision does not require rebuilding a close relationship or pretending the past communication was okay. It can simply free your own heart to keep praying for him with compassion while you maintain clear and wise boundaries.

It may help to keep any necessary contact with him brief, in writing, and with a trusted friend or family member aware of the situation, so you are not left carrying it alone.

Father, we lift this landlord before You and ask for Your mercy on his life. Draw him to Yourself and open his heart to Jesus, that he would find life that lasts. We ask for Your peace and wisdom for our friend in any further dealings, and that Your light and love would be evident in this whole situation. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have laid your request before the Lord and join with you in earnest prayer for the soul of this man and for your own peace in this trial.

The word you have brought, Luke 9:24, sets before every man the great choice, For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. This is the very hinge of the gospel. A man may hold fast to his own pride, his own way, his own house and goods, and in saving all for himself he loses all. Or he may lose himself for Christ and in that holy losing find life eternal.

Bear in mind that the house in which we dwell in this life has God for its Landlord, and we are only tenants. There is a clause in the lease which some have never observed, namely, that the Landlord has at all times the right to enter and leave His own property. Your former landlord may hold the deeds of an earthly apartment, but he himself is a tenant under the Great Landlord of heaven and earth. The rent that is to be paid is not silver or gold, for conscience says that the heart is never right till the whole man is in Christ, till by a living faith we have embraced Jesus as our full salvation and have received the Holy Spirit as our Sanctifier. We pray that this man may yet offer the key of his house to that Great Landlord and acknowledge that he lives on sufferance as His tenant.

For this reason we must preach over and over again the plain gospel of salvation by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus. The way of salvation is to believe on Christ, whom God has laid in Zion for a foundation. What is believing on Him, it is trusting in Him, to leave the whole matter of your salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence, to depend upon Him without fear as to your present and eternal salvation. This faith is believing on a Person, not on a notion or a feeling, but on Him. And how simple is that way. The Lord says, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. It is not look to your own works or your own pride, for that would exalt man, but God in order to humble your pride says, Look unto me and be ye saved. A look does not require a moment, yet it saves the soul. It is without money and without price, and as long as a man brings his own pride and good works with him he cannot have it, but he that comes empty handed, looking only to Jesus, shall not be ashamed.

We therefore pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

O Lord Jesus, Thou reignest over the darkness and Thy light expelleth all darkness and every unclean spirit. We ask Thy mercy and grace upon this former landlord. Humble his haughtiness and pride, which Thou resistest, and grant him a broken and contrite heart. Cause him to hear Thy word, that he would lose his life for Thy sake, turn from saving himself, and look unto Thee and be saved. Grant him living faith to trust wholly in Thee, that his salvation may be secure beyond hazard. Let him know that Thou Thyself art salvation, and that to see Thee by faith is to see life.

We also declare our trust in Thy victory over this rented apartment situation which has brought such dysfunctional and opposing communication. Let Thy healing power and Thy providence guide and overrule, that even through this difficulty Thy greatness and power may be seen, and that no hard heart can withstand Thy mighty power. Give to Thy child who prays a quiet spirit, patience under provocation, and a constant looking to Christ.

We thank Thee for Thy love and faithfulness, which endure forever, and we leave both souls in Thy sovereign hands, asking all in the precious name of Jesus our only Saviour. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for your former landlord has been heard and we join you in bringing him before the Lord Jesus Christ according to His word, for whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Him will save it.

We pray that the Lord in His mercy will humble what is proud and soften what is hard in this man, and that He will open his eyes to see that true life is not found in holding tightly to himself, but in surrendering himself to Christ. Pride comes from a smallness of soul, while true greatness is found in humility before God. We ask that God will bring this landlord to know that he cannot save himself, that salvation is not earned by his own worth, but is given freely by the grace of Christ who paid the price for us with His own blood on the cross.

Scripture tells us that the message of the cross seems like foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us it is the power and wisdom of God for salvation. We pray that this man will no longer see the cross as foolishness, but will recognize the great price that was paid for him, and that he will be made free. For we are bought with a price, and when we take up the cross and lose our lives for Christ, we find true freedom and our souls are made free from slavery to pride and sin.

We also pray for you in this difficult situation with the rented apartment and the broken communication. The Lord reigns over all darkness and His light drives it away. We ask that His light will shine into this relationship, that He will guard you from anger and bitterness, and that He will give you patience and courage. May you continue to show the grace you have freely received, remembering that we ourselves have received salvation not because we were worthy, but because it pleased God to call us.

So we pray, Lord Jesus, have mercy on this landlord. Lead him to repent and to give his life to You, that he may not lose it but may save it for eternity. Let him know You as Savior, the one who takes away the sin of the world and who desires that all should come to salvation through Him alone. Let Your power and greatness be seen, and let Your healing and grace rest upon all who are affected by this struggle. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who died and rose again that He might be Lord of all, and in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

It is good that you are praying this way for your former landlord, and your prayer is in line with the heart of God. The verse you shared holds the very center of the gospel. Jesus said that whoever tries to hold on to his own life and live for himself will lose it, but whoever lets go of his life for the sake of Jesus will save it. That is the call to deny the self centered life, to take up the cross and to follow Him.

This salvation is great because it is open to everyone. Whoever will may come and drink of the water of life freely. Whoever believes in Him will not be cast out, no matter how far he has gone. It reaches even the lowest sinner, and it is worthy to be received by all. Jesus Himself first spoke of this salvation, and He is the captain and originator of it, made complete through His suffering on the cross. He did not redeem us by any other way, but by shedding His blood and paying the price to buy us back to God.

To be saved now is to confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and to believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. That confession now brings salvation and eternal life. There will be a day when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, but then it will be forced and it will not be to salvation. That is why Scripture urges us not to receive the grace of God in vain and not to neglect so great a salvation, for there is no escape if we do. Our eternal destiny is at stake.

For this reason the Word says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. God has appointed a time to hear and to help, and we should not turn aside His offer or put it off. Those who are lost have gone past that appointed time after a final appeal was refused. We do not want that for anyone, and especially for one who is still living and can still respond.

So we join you in prayer for this man. We ask the Lord Jesus, who reigns over all darkness and whose light drives darkness away, to work in his heart. Where there has been silence and opposing and broken communication, and where pride and haughtiness have built a wall, we ask God to soften his heart and humble him. We pray that he will see his need, that he will stop trying to save his own life on his own terms, and that he will lose his life for Jesus in order to truly save it. We pray that the grace of God which brings salvation and has appeared to all people would be received by him, not in vain, and that he would be reconciled to God through faith in Christ.

We also pray for you in this rented apartment situation. We ask for the Lord's power to bring victory and healing and peace where there has been conflict. May you be kept from giving offense so that the ministry of reconciliation is not blamed, and may you continue to walk in the life of the Spirit. May all who see how God works in this situation see His greatness and His power, for no one can stand against Him, and His salvation and His righteousness endure forever while all that opposes Him will pass away.

We thank God for His love and faithfulness and for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and we trust Him to do His perfect work in your former landlord's life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
