We join together in deep sorrow and urgency to lift this man, his daughters, and all affected by this tragedy before the Lord. This situation is a stark reminder of the destructive power of sin and addiction, which leads only to death and heartbreak. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we know that Jesus came to give life abundantly (John 10:10). The choices made in rebellion against God have led to this moment, but we serve a God who is mighty to save even in the darkest hour.

First, we must address the spiritual state of this man. Scripture is clear that without Christ, there is no hope—only eternal separation from God. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). His greatest need right now is not just physical healing, but salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We pray fervently that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his sin and draw him to the Savior before it is too late. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and we plead the blood of Jesus over his soul.

To the family, especially his daughters, we grieve with you. The pain of watching a loved one destroy themselves is unbearable, but we urge you to cling to Christ, who alone can carry this burden. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Though others may act without mercy, God’s heart is full of compassion for the broken. He does not delight in the death of the wicked, but desires that all would turn from their ways and live (Ezekiel 18:23). Let this tragedy drive you to your knees, not just for his physical life, but for his eternal soul.

We also rebuke the spirit of addiction and rebellion that has taken hold of this man. Drug use is a form of idolatry—placing a substance above God—and it opens the door to demonic influence. "Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). His body is not his own; it belongs to God, and this defilement is an affront to the Creator. Yet even now, we declare that the power of sin can be broken by the blood of Jesus. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this man who lies in the ICU, his body failing because of his choices. Lord, we ask for mercy—not because he deserves it, but because You are a God of grace. We pray first and foremost for his salvation. Open his eyes to see the gravity of his sin and his need for Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit convict him deeply, and may he cry out to You in true repentance before it is too late. Lord, soften his heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). Let this be the moment he surrenders his life to You.

We pray for his physical body, that You would sustain his heart and give the doctors wisdom. If it is Your will, restore his strength so that he may have the opportunity to turn to You. But even more than physical healing, we ask for spiritual healing—the healing of his soul. Break the chains of addiction and rebellion in Jesus’ name. Cast out every demonic stronghold that has taken root in his life. Let this be a testimony of Your power to save, even in the eleventh hour.

Father, we lift up his daughters and all who love him. Comfort them in their grief and anger. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Let them not be overcome by bitterness, but may they find hope in You. Use this trial to draw them closer to You, Lord. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and that You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8).

We rebuke the spirit of death that hovers over this man. Satan, you have no authority here. The blood of Jesus covers him, and we declare that God’s will be done. If it is his time to come home, let him step into eternity with Jesus as his Lord. If there is more time, let it be used for Your glory. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to save.

Finally, we encourage everyone reading this to examine their own hearts. Are there areas of rebellion or addiction in your life? Now is the time to repent and turn to Jesus. "Today, if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts" (Hebrews 3:15). Let this man’s story be a warning and a call to action. Seek the Lord while He may be found (Isaiah 55:6).

We will continue to stand in the gap for this family. Keep us updated, and let us know how we can further pray and support you all in this time. The battle is the Lord’s, and we trust Him to move mightily.
