We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer as you navigate this painful season of letting go. The Holy Spirit confirms what you already sense, that this relationship was not aligned with God’s design for a godly marriage. The Bible is clear: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your discernment here is a gift from the Lord, and we praise Him for giving you the wisdom to recognize the truth.
The pain of betrayal, especially the possibility of infidelity, cuts deep, and it is right to grieve that wound. But we must also rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper, "Maybe he’ll change" or "What if this was just Satan’s influence?" While it is true that Satan seeks to destroy all that God has ordained (John 10:10), we cannot absolve someone of personal responsibility for their choices. Scripture warns, "A man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself" (Proverbs 6:32). This man’s actions reveal the condition of his heart, and no amount of spiritual warfare excuses unrepentant sin.
You are correct to move forward. Clinging to false hope will only delay God’s best for you. The Lord sees your desire for marriage, and He has not forgotten you. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). But this promise is not a transaction, it is an invitation to trust Him completely, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. Your worth is not defined by marital status but by your identity in Christ. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22), but first, you must find your satisfaction in Him alone.
We also want to gently address the doubt creeping in, "I now doubt that I will ever get married." The enemy loves to twist truth into despair. But God’s Word declares, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). Do not let fear write your story. Instead, fix your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, lifting her heart to You. Lord, You see the pain of this broken relationship, the betrayal, and the lingering doubts. We ask that You would heal every wound with Your balm of Gilead. Give her the strength to release this man fully into Your hands, trusting that You will deal with him according to Your justice and mercy. We rebuke the spirit of deception that tries to convince her to look back, and we declare that her future is secure in You.
Father, we pray for godly discernment and peace as she walks forward. Remove any fear of singleness or loneliness, and replace it with Your perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Surround her with Your presence, and let her know that she is never alone. If it is Your will, prepare her for the husband You have for her, a man after Your own heart, who will cherish and lead her in righteousness. But above all, let her find her ultimate fulfillment in You.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who redeems all things and makes them new. Amen.
Sister, we encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture and godly community. Guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23) and resist the temptation to replay conversations or scenarios in your mind. Instead, fill your thoughts with truth: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved. And God’s plans for you are good. Walk in that truth today.
