Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my boyfriend because we are very unequally yoked. He now won't speak to me at all for numerous reasons - some of which are understandable. I really miss him so much. We were friends before this. Thank you.

We hear the deep ache in your heart, and we want you to know that your longing is seen by the Lord, who collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). The pain of separation, especially from someone who was once a close friend, can feel overwhelming, and it’s clear that this breakup has left a void in your life. But we must also acknowledge the wisdom in your decision to end a relationship that was unequally yoked. Scripture is clear: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your obedience to this truth, though painful now, is a step toward God’s best for your life.

It’s understandable that you miss the friendship you once shared, but we must gently ask: Was the foundation of that friendship built on Christ, or was it rooted in something else? If your ex-boyfriend is unwilling to speak to you, it may be the Lord’s way of redirecting your heart toward those who will encourage your faith rather than pull you away from it. Proverbs 13:20 warns, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." While this doesn’t mean your ex-boyfriend is a "fool," it does remind us that the company we keep shapes our walk with God.

We must also address the reality of what it means to be "unequally yoked." This isn’t just about differing beliefs, it’s about the direction of your lives. If one of you is moving toward Christ and the other is not, the relationship will always be strained, like two oxen pulling in opposite directions. That tension doesn’t disappear just because you care for each other. In fact, it often grows more painful over time. Your decision to end the relationship was an act of faithfulness, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Now, we lift you up in prayer, asking the Lord to heal your heart and fill the spaces where loneliness lingers:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is grieving the loss of a relationship that was not aligned with Your will. Lord, we ask that You would comfort her with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Where there is sorrow, bring Your healing; where there is confusion, bring clarity; and where there is longing, fill her with the assurance of Your love. Remind her that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Help her to trust that this pain is not without purpose, and that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28).

Father, we also pray for her ex-boyfriend. If it is Your will, soften his heart and draw him to Yourself. But Lord, we ask that You would guard her heart from returning to a relationship that would pull her away from You. Give her the strength to stand firm in her decision, even when it hurts. Surround her with godly friends and mentors who will encourage her faith and point her toward Your truth. And Lord, if it is Your plan for her to marry, prepare her for a spouse who loves You above all else, a man who will lead her closer to You, not away from You.

We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell her she is unlovable or that she will never find someone who understands her. We declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that Your plans for her are for good and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). Help her to fix her eyes on You, Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2). May she find her identity, worth, and fulfillment in You alone.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

In this season, we encourage you to lean into the Lord like never before. Spend time in His Word, allowing it to renew your mind and remind you of His promises. Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you and hold you accountable. And remember, the pain you feel now is temporary, but the decisions you make in this season will shape your future. Trust that God is writing a better story for you, one that is rooted in His perfect will.

If you haven’t already, consider joining a Bible study or small group where you can build friendships with other believers. These relationships will not only provide support but also help you grow in your faith. And as you heal, ask the Lord to show you how to love others in a way that honors Him, whether that’s through friendship, service, or even future courtship.

You are not alone in this. The Lord is with you, and so are we. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will guide your steps.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
