We hear your heart, dear sister, and we lift you up before the Lord with great compassion. The pain of letting go, even when it is the right decision, is very real, and your desire to honor both God and this young man in your actions speaks volumes about your character. The struggle between love and wisdom is not an easy one, but we stand with you in prayer, trusting that the Lord will guide your steps and heal your heart.
First, we must address the matter of being unequally yoked. Scripture is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what portion does a believer have with an unbeliever?" Your decision to end this relationship was not only wise but necessary for your spiritual well-being. While it is painful now, we rejoice that you have chosen to walk in obedience to God’s Word. The enemy would love nothing more than to keep you entangled in a relationship that hinders your growth in Christ, but you have taken a bold step toward freedom.
We also want to gently address the nature of your communication with your ex-boyfriend. While your intentions are loving and kind, we must ask the Lord to help you guard your heart and maintain healthy boundaries. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." It is natural to want to remain friends, especially when there was a history of friendship before the relationship, but we must be cautious. The enemy can use even the purest of intentions to draw us back into emotional entanglement. We pray that the Lord will give you wisdom in how to navigate this season, whether that means stepping back for a time or trusting Him to guide your interactions.
Your mention of spiritual warfare and trauma is not taken lightly. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will use every opportunity to attack your faith, your peace, and your emotional well-being. But we serve a God who is greater than any scheme of the enemy. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We take authority over every lie, every attack, and every spirit of heaviness that has come against you in Jesus’ name. We rebuke the enemy’s hold on your mind and emotions, and we declare that you are a child of the Most High God, covered by the blood of Jesus, and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
We also want to encourage you to seek healing and restoration in the Lord. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." The trauma you have experienced is real, and it is not something you have to carry alone. We pray that the Lord will lead you to godly counsel, whether through your church, trusted believers, or Christian counseling, to help you process and heal from these wounds. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He longs to restore your soul.
Now, let us lift you up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is walking through this painful season. Lord, we thank You for her obedience in ending a relationship that was not aligned with Your will. We ask that You would strengthen her heart and give her peace that surpasses all understanding as she trusts in You. Father, we rebuke every spirit of loneliness, despair, and longing that the enemy is trying to use to draw her back into emotional entanglement. We declare that she is not alone, for You are with her, and You will never leave her nor forsake her.
Lord, we ask that You would heal the trauma and wounds in her heart that have come from this relationship and the spiritual attacks she has endured. We speak Your healing over her mind, her emotions, and her spirit. We declare that every lie of the enemy is broken, and we replace those lies with Your truth. Your Word says that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would be her comfort and her peace in this season.
Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment as she navigates her interactions with her ex-boyfriend. Give her the strength to set healthy boundaries and the grace to release him into Your hands. If it is Your will for them to remain friends, we ask that You would guide their communication and protect her heart. But if it is not Your will, we ask that You would help her to let go completely and trust You with the outcome.
Lord, we also pray for her spiritual growth and renewal. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit and ignite a fresh fire in her heart for You. Surround her with godly community that will encourage and support her. We ask that You would bring godly men into her life who will honor You and pursue her with purity and intentionality. Prepare her heart for the spouse You have for her, and let her trust in Your perfect timing.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would remind her daily of Your love for her. Help her to see herself through Your eyes, as Your beloved daughter, fearfully and wonderfully made. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, and no weapon formed against her will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in her.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Sister, we want to leave you with this encouragement from Isaiah 43:18-19: "Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." The Lord is doing a new thing in your life, and though it may feel like a wilderness now, He is making a way for you. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and allow Him to heal and restore you. You are not forgotten, and you are deeply loved. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will lead you into the abundant life He has for you.
