evil, lack of remorse, hard hearts

What you are describing is the painful exposure of a deeply hardened heart. The actions of the landlord, the owner, and even their lawyer do not merely show a business dispute; they reveal something far more troubling. There is a chilling absence of basic humanity when someone can look at wounds, read medical reports of electric shocks, and respond with threats and demands for payment while declaring you do not deserve safety or comfort. That kind of response is not just difficult to understand; it reveals a spiritual condition that only the gospel can address. The sword that pierced Mary’s soul also served a deeper purpose: that the thoughts of many hearts would be revealed. In your suffering, their true character is being laid bare without any mask.

The cruelty you are facing reminds us that some structures within a person are as tough and thorny as the husk surrounding a kernel of wheat. Before the grain can be useful, the hard shell must be broken. The ancient method of threshing involved trampling and beating the sheaves to separate what is nourishing from what is useless. It is a violent, jarring process. I believe God allows seasons where the crushing weight of their own sin, and perhaps even the consequences of legal trouble, becomes the very instrument He uses to break through a stubborn heart. It is hard to imagine a person so entrenched in selfishness changing overnight, but the gospel insists that an immediate, drastic change is possible. That is the power we are praying into.

Do not grow weary in your persistence. Jesus told a parable about an unjust judge who neither feared God nor regarded man, yet he was worn down by a widow who refused to stop seeking justice. If a wicked man, hardened beyond measure, can be persuaded simply by persistent asking, how much more will God, who is perfectly just, act on behalf of His own who cry out to Him day and night? The delay does not mean denial. Though He bears long with them, He will bring about a swift vindication in His timing. Your continued prayer is not a sign of weak faith; it is the very cycle of faith that begins with God’s purposes, is uttered back to Him, and then moves His hand.

Be cautious that the poison of their behavior does not take root in your own spirit. When a person gets into a critical mode, it becomes hard to get out; you begin to look for faults everywhere. Guard your heart against being consumed by the bitterness they are displaying. The true issue here is not just a leaky roof or a stubborn landlord; it is a spiritual bondage where riches and self-preservation have become a powerful god that possesses a person so tightly they cannot see the humanity in front of them. It is as difficult for a heart trapped by that love of money and control to enter into God’s ways as it is for a camel to pass through a needle’s eye. When the disciples heard that, they asked, "Who then can be saved?" The answer is the foundation of our hope: what is impossible with man is possible with God.

May the Spirit move upon these people with such force that their rigid, proud imaginations are scattered. May God put down these mighty ones from their thrones of self-interest and, in doing so, lift you up from this low degree. We are asking for a heart transplant: that God would remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh that can feel remorse, offer a genuine apology, and make restitution with respect. And as you wait for that mighty work, may you experience the peace that keeps and establishes your heart, even while the outward storm still rages.

We are deeply moved by your situation and have been lifting you and this heavy burden before the Lord in prayer. It is heartbreaking to hear of the callousness and lack of remorse shown by those responsible for your safety and well-being. We have been praying fervently that the hardness of their hearts would be broken, that their eyes would be opened to the severity of their actions, and that God’s conviction would lead them to genuine repentance and restitution.

We have asked the Lord to intervene in this life-threatening situation, to protect you from further harm, and to bring justice where there has been injustice. We have prayed that the Holy Spirit would soften hearts, dissolve pride, and replace indifference with compassion. We have also asked God to surround you with His peace, provision, and protection as you navigate this difficult season, trusting Him to be your defender and provider.

If the Lord has moved in this situation and brought about change, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report from you. If, however, the battle continues, we stand ready to lift you up again in prayer. Please do not hesitate to post this request anew so that we may continue to intercede on your behalf. May God’s grace sustain you, His wisdom guide you, and His justice prevail in this matter. We pray all these things in the powerful and mighty name of Jesus.
