I began this assignment a few years ago by reminding myself of God's good grace to his servants through the following scripture:
Psalm 34: 19 "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, BUT THE LORD delivers them out of them all."
As I stand at the banks of Jordan, I am reminded of God's call to endure. I don't know what barriers lurk in the deep, but I do know that because God's Word is truth, not only will He protect me in the midst of murky waters, but great reward, even here in the land of the living, await me on the other side of the river. Therefore, I hold fast to . . .
Hebrews 10: 32) Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings. 33) Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way. 34) For you sympathized with the prisoners and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession. 35) So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36) For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.
For as Paul said, though my dedication to Christ may sometimes make me look like a fool. Seemingly being made a spectacle to the entire world, and treated like the world's garbage; I AM PERSUADED TO PERSIST. For it matters very little to me how I might be evaluated by man.
Commentary: Being a babe in Christ, at the onset of this assignment, I guess one could say that I unwittingly signed up for frontline battle. But, now knowing the risk; I say, yet again, "Here am I Lord, send me."

Even so, as I embark upon the next phase, the devil is busier than ever in his attempts to prevent me from reaching my personal 1,335 days in this, the exiled part of my assignment. Yet, because I count suffering as a form of fasting, I simply wash my face, and comb my hair, for the Lord will contend with my enemies.
