[Chrysostom]

Your cry for employment and for a breakthrough has been heard and brought before the Lord with prayer.

God knows your need and your distress, and He is not distant from it. He sees your desire to provide for yourself and for those entrusted to you, and He calls you to cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you. In this time of waiting, do not let anxiety overwhelm you, but bring your requests to Him with thanksgiving and trust.

Scripture reminds us that our true blessedness is not measured first by abundance. Job was not most blessed when he had many flocks and possessions, but when in loss he could still say, the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. The enemy desires that need or loss would drive us to complaint against God, but faith shows its strength when we continue to honor Him even in want. Keep your heart steadfast, and do not let this trial move you to despair or to words against His goodness.

We are also taught not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, but to seek what is needed for health and for faithful living, while spending our greater industry on spiritual things. This present life passes quickly, like a sleep, and its riches and honors are like dreams that vanish. Therefore while you seek work for your necessary provision, seek first the care of your soul, to be found faithful, diligent, and upright before God. He who provides for your soul will not neglect your body.

We pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this need for work before You. You know the urgency of this need and the weight it brings. We ask that You open a door for honest and fruitful employment, work through which this one may provide for daily needs, use the gifts You have given, and glorify You. Grant wisdom in searching, favor with those who hire, and strength to persevere. Guard the heart from discouragement and from temptation, and give peace that passes understanding while waiting on Your provision. Help this one to trust not in riches but in You who richly provides, and to rest in the knowledge that You are faithful. Grant that whatever work You provide may be done as unto You, with diligence and integrity. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Continue to seek diligently, to work with your hands faithfully where opportunity is given, and to remain in prayer and in the Scriptures. Trust the Lord to provide in His time and in His way, and to use even this season to deepen your hope in Him.
