We lift you up before the throne of grace in this moment of distress, trusting in the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ. Your body is fearfully and wonderfully made, and we know the Great Physician sees every detail of your need. The psalmist declares, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3). We stand on this promise as we pray for your blood pressure to stabilize according to His perfect will.
Father, we ask You to calm every anxious thought and steady every racing heartbeat. Your Word tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7). Let this peace wash over our dear brother/sister now, even as the medical team works to care for them.
We also pray for wisdom for the doctors and nurses attending to you. May they be guided by the Holy Spirit in every decision, and may their hands be instruments of Your healing. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that may try to take hold in this moment. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that your peace will reign in this situation, and that your healing power will flow through every part of this precious one’s body.
We thank You for the name of Jesus, the only name by which we can come before You with confidence. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We trust in Your mercy and grace, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Rest in the assurance that you are not alone. The Lord is your refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We will continue to pray for your complete restoration, both physically and spiritually. May you feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit surrounding you like a warm embrace, reminding you that God’s love is steadfast and His promises are true.

We're sorry you're going through this, being in the ER after a procedure is unsettling, especially when your blood pressure won't settle. Thank you for letting us lift you up. We're praying with you right now, asking the Lord to bring your body back to a calm, steady place, and to give wisdom to the doctors and nurses caring for you.
It's okay to feel afraid; your body and spirit have been through a lot today. But you're not alone. God is with you in that room, and so are many of us, holding you before Him. He knows exactly what your body needs, and He is able to bring peace that defies the numbers on the monitor. Even when things feel out of control, He remains in control, and He sees you.
While you wait, try to quietly speak His name to yourself, or bring to mind a few truths you know are solid: that He loves you, that He is near, that He is your healer. Let that be your anchor. And keep the medical team informed about how you're feeling, they are God's instruments too.
Lord Jesus, we bring our friend before You now. You see the racing pulse and the high pressure, and You know the fear that comes with it. Please touch this body with Your healing hand, calm the storm within, and restore balance. Give the medical team insight and skill. The Lord is in this place, even in the emergency room, and He knows your frame and your present trouble. You have asked prayer in Jesus’ name, and that name is the sweetest plea that ever ascended to the throne of grace. The very blood of that dear name speaks better things than any earthly medicine, for it purchased pardon, peace, and healing for all who trust. Is it not written, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds”? Whether the healing comes through the physician’s skill or by His own immediate touch, it comes from the same pierced hand.
Your blood pressure surges against your body, but there is another pressure, the pressure of His love, which is stronger than death. The tree of life has leaves for the healing of the nations, and the least leaf of His grace can quiet the storm within. The same power that once stood in a crowded house and forgave the palsied man, then made him rise and walk, is present with you now. He saw the faith of those who carried that poor sufferer; even so, He sees the faith of those who bear you up in prayer this hour. His first word to the soul is often, “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee,” and with that cleansing word comes a calm that medicine alone cannot give. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and no fever of body or spirit can stand before Him.
Lay hold upon this: Jesus Christ has ascended on high, and He has received gifts for men, gifts of repentance, remission, and restoration. You are not required to manufacture a perfect faith or a perfect feeling; the blood alone is the shelter. God does not say, “When I see your strong grip upon My promises,” but, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Rest in that finished work. Let your heart beat with the rhythm of that sacred truth: He loved me, and gave Himself for me. The healing leaves of His presence change the very life-blood, making the spirit new. Yield yourself to His care as a flower yields to the rain, passive in His hand, but alive by His quickening.
I am praying that the Lord will rebuke this disorder, and that you will soon witness to His restoring mercy. But whether the relief comes swiftly or in time, know that He is making every moment work together for your good. Let the quiet of His pardon steal over your soul, and the stilly peace of His presence keep your heart and mind. The hand that holds the worlds now holds your pulse. He who lifted Peter’s mother-in-law from her fever will lift you up, and then you shall rise to serve Him with new vigour.

You cry out from the emergency room, and I hear the fear and the pain. But do not let your heart be troubled. The Lord is not far off, and His help is swift. Consider: after His resurrection, the women held Him by the feet, and He said, “Be not afraid.” He casts out fear and makes way for faith. So now, even as your blood surges and the body trembles, the same risen Christ draws near to you. Hold fast to Him, not with hands but with trust, and let His peace rule in your heart. He who sends good tidings through the most unlikely messengers will send healing to you now.
Your physical trial is not without purpose. For the bodies of those beasts whose blood was brought into the sanctuary were burned outside the camp; and Jesus also suffered outside the gate to sanctify the people with His own blood. Let us go forth to Him, bearing His reproach. That means we are not ashamed to suffer in the body, for in this we have communion with His sufferings. Your high blood pressure, this affliction, is a light momentary trouble compared to the eternal weight of glory it can work for you if you endure it with faith.
Do not think you are abandoned. The very fact that you call upon the name of Jesus proves that the Spirit is at work in you. For God, who is rich in mercy, has given you free will, not to leave you helpless but that you might imitate Him. He honors your body beyond measure, so much that even the unbodied powers tremble at the honor Christ has bestowed on our flesh. Your body, now distressed, is destined for resurrection. So do not despise it or despair over it.
You have medicine, and you have done what is prudent. But above all, you have the true medicine of the soul: the Blood of Christ. If the blood of bulls could purify the flesh, how much more will the Blood of Christ purge your conscience and bring wholeness to your whole being, body, soul, and spirit. That Blood was shed for you, at great cost, to forgive you and to heal you. And He who gave His Son for you will He not also, with Him, freely give you all things? He is not slack concerning His promise. He has shown you what is good and gives abundant help.
I pray, then, in the name of Jesus, that the Lord who stilled the storm would command your blood to be still; that the peace which passes understanding would guard your heart and mind; and that the same power that raised Christ from the dead would quicken your mortal body and bring your numbers to a safe level. Do not fix your eyes on the monitor in fright, but on the Savior who holds all things in His hands. Even now, let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be: “Lord, You are my help; I will not be afraid.”
And when this trial passes, let it stir you not to worldly pleasure or vain oaths, but to thankfulness and a more earnest life. For He allures you by this very deliverance to love Him more and to store up treasure in heaven. I will not cease to ask the Lord on your behalf, for I know well what help the prayers of the faithful can bring. Trust in His faithful love.
