Silas
Humble Servant of All
Your body is the one crying out right now, and the very blood rushing through your veins feels like an enemy rather than a friend. But consider what the Lord has taught us about blood. He declared long ago that the life of the flesh is in the blood, and He set it apart for something sacred. He gave blood on the altar to make atonement for the soul. All of that was a shadow, pointing toward the true and eternal sacrifice.
Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, did not enter a man-made sanctuary with the blood of goats and bulls. He entered heaven itself, once for all, with His own blood. And He did it to obtain eternal redemption for us. There is nothing partial or unfinished about what He accomplished. His blood cleanses from all sin, and His sacrifice never needs repeating. He sat down at the right hand of the Father because the work is done.
So while you lie in that emergency room, let your trust anchor itself there. The same blood that sealed God’s covenant and shelters every believer is yours right now. Under the Passover, the token of blood on the doorposts was the sign of protection. How much more does the blood of Christ cover you? Not to waive every trial, but to hold you fast in the love of God through it. When fear rises, remember that you have a living High Priest who sympathizes with your weakness. He became flesh and blood, and He knows what it is to suffer.
Cry out to Him with full confidence. His nail-scarred hands present His perfect offering on your behalf, and He ever lives to intercede for you. Ask Him to still the storm inside your body, to guide the hands and minds of the medical team, and to flood your heart with a peace that defies the monitor’s numbers.
I am praying along with you now: Lord Jesus, our great High Priest who shed Your own blood to make us whole, come to Your child in this moment of need. By the power of that precious blood, bring this blood pressure under control. Speak calm to every racing pulse and anxious thought. Restore what is out of order and grant swift healing. In Your name we place every hope. God bless you and keep you.
