Electricity

Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
My electricity has been off since yesterday due to my HOA having to do work on my unit that required it to be disconnected for yesterday and possibly today as well. But my HOA said the electrician could finish early today. Pray that he will. This has been unbearable especially in this heat and I would like to work later in the day (I work from home). Thank you.

We understand the discomfort and inconvenience you're experiencing with the electricity being off, especially in this heat. It's challenging when our daily routines are disrupted, and we rely on modern conveniences to carry out our work and maintain our comfort. We will lift this situation up in prayer, trusting that God is in control and can work all things together for good for those who love Him.

First, let's turn to Scripture for encouragement and perspective. In Philippians 4:19, it says, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Even in this temporary discomfort, we can trust that God knows your needs and will provide for you. Additionally, James 1:2-4 reminds us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." This trial can be an opportunity to grow in patience and reliance on God.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your mercy and grace. Lord, we pray that the electrician will finish the work early today, restoring electricity swiftly. We ask that You provide comfort and relief from the heat for this individual and their household. Father, grant them the strength and patience to endure this trial, and help them to find ways to continue their work despite the challenges.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and favor in dealing with the HOA and the electrician. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Help them to trust in Your provision and timing, knowing that You are always with them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek ways to stay cool and hydrated. Perhaps you can visit a local library, café, or a friend's house where you can work comfortably. Use this time to rest, reflect, and spend moments in prayer and reading God's Word. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Lastly, let's keep our focus on God's promises. In Romans 8:28, it says, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Even in this inconvenience, God can use it for your good and His glory. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will see you through this time.

We’re right there with you in this, it’s miserable when a home loses power, especially in the heat, and when your livelihood depends on being able to plug in later today. Waiting on someone else’s timeline only adds to the weight, so we’re asking the Lord to move this along.

A small bit of perspective that helps us in moments like these: patience isn’t passive resignation; it’s the steady, active trust that God hasn’t forgotten the small stuff. The same God who holds the universe is watching you sweat it out in a dark apartment, and He cares. We’re praying the electrician runs into no snags, that the work wraps up sooner than expected, and that you’ll be back online in time for your afternoon tasks.

In the meantime, if the heat becomes too much, please don’t hesitate to slip out to a cooler spot for a bit, a shaded bench, a library, even a friend’s plugged-in living room for an hour. That’s not a lack of faith; it’s using the common grace around you. And if you can, maybe line up the work you’ll tackle first when the power returns, so you’re ready to jump in without losing a beat.

Lord Jesus, we bring our friend before You. You know the stifling heat and the anxious wait. We ask that You guide the electrician’s hands, clear away any delays, and restore power early today. Give our friend endurance for the discomfort and peace about the work that needs to get done. Shelter them in Your care, and let this small trial become a reminder that You are near in every need. In Your name, amen.

The heat presses in on you like a heavy blanket, and the hours feel longer when the air does not stir. You did not choose this interruption, the quiet hum of your daily work silenced, the comfort of your home turned into a weary waiting. It is no small thing to feel so at the mercy of another's schedule, to have your plans held in someone else's hands. And yet even here, even in this stifling stillness, you are not forgotten.

The Lord who numbers the hairs of your head knows the temperature of your room. He who watched His own disciples strain at the oars in the dark saw their discomfort, and He sees yours. He does not dismiss the little trials, for they are the ones that chafe the spirit most. When the body is weary and the mind is restless, when the simple relief of a fan or a screen feels like a distant mercy, remember that your Heavenly Father is not far off. He is as near to you in this warm room as He is in the cool of the morning. His ear is not dull, and His heart is not cold.

Think of it this way: the same Lord who will one day command the elements to dissolve and make all things new is also the One who can send a workman to finish his task early. The same Christ who stilled the storm with a word can quiet the clamor of your anxious thoughts and bring a small breeze of peace across your soul. Do not be afraid to ask Him for such a homely mercy. He who noticed the sparrow's fall and the lily's withering cares about your electricity and your work and the sweat on your brow. Prayer is the rope that pulls the great bell in heaven, and it swings for little things as well as great ones.

Perhaps this waiting is a love letter in a black-edged envelope. The discomfort you feel is not a sign of His absence, but a place where His patience can become yours. You are learning, in this small way, what it means to endure, not with a stiff lip, but with a child's hand held out in the dark, trusting the Father's grip. The heat will pass. The power will return. But the nearness you find to Christ in the trial may last far longer than the memory of the inconvenience. He is fitting you, even now, for something you cannot see. And while you wait, He is with you, not standing at a distance, but sitting beside you in the stillness, His eye upon you, His Spirit interceding when you can hardly find the words.

Let us bow our hearts together.

Lord Jesus, You who are the shadow in the weary land and the bright morning star, look upon Your child in this small but sharp trial. Send the relief of a finished task and a restored current, that the room may cool and the work may resume. But more than that, give the comfort of Your presence, the steadying hand of Your love, and the quiet confidence that You are ordering all things well. Let patience have its perfect work, and let hope not be deferred. In Your merciful name we pray. Amen.

This sudden loss of electricity, with the heat bearing down upon you, is indeed a bitter trial, and I join my prayer to yours that the work be completed swiftly and your home made habitable again. Yet, do not let this hour pass without spiritual profit. Call to mind the apostle Paul, who endured bonds and imprisonments, and the holy women who shared in manly courage, bearing far greater hardships. For your present discomfort, when offered up with thanksgiving, becomes a small share in their fellowship. The body may swelter, but the soul can remain fixed upon the Lord who suffered all for us, and these light afflictions refine our patience as gold in the furnace.

Take heed, also, that no resentment kindle within you against those whose labor caused this interruption. The devil is cunning and would twist even a small grievance into a lasting wound. If you nurse anger against the HOA or the electrician, you thrust a sword into your own spirit, drawing upon yourself a judgment more severe than the heat. Rather, bless them, and let this season of stillness serve a higher purpose. Without the hum of machines, speak to God in prayer, and let the discomfort remind you of those who toil under the sun without relief. In this way, what seemed a hindrance to work becomes a sacred pause for the soul.

Therefore, we pray not only that the electrician finishes early, but that you emerge from this trial with a quiet and steadfast mind, your hope anchored not in the fleeting comfort of this age but in the living God. And when the cool air returns, give thanks, and hold fast the fruit of this moment, a spirit tried and found genuine, and a compassion for all who suffer.

Please pray for another friend whose electricity is about to be cut off within the hour. They forgot to pay the bill by accident and just received notice of a shut off while they're working. I don't think they're a believer. Without electricity, they can't work - they work from home. Thank you.
