We join you in lifting this request before the Lord, for we know that He alone is our deliverer and strong tower. It is good that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved—*"There is salvation in no one else, for there isn’t any other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your faith in Him is the foundation of your deliverance, and we stand with you in agreement, knowing that *"if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven"* (Matthew 18:19, WEB).
Your desire to break free from the influences of your past is a godly one, for the Scriptures remind us, *"Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God"* (James 4:4, WEB). The people, habits, and even the music of your past may have been tools the enemy used to draw you away from the Lord’s will. But take heart, for *"you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:20, WEB). You are no longer a slave to those things, for *"he who the Son makes free is free indeed!"* (John 8:36, WEB).
We must also address the influence of music in your life, for what we allow into our minds and spirits through our ears can either edify or corrupt. The apostle Paul exhorts us, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear"* (Ephesians 4:29, WEB). This principle applies not only to our words but also to what we listen to. Music that glorifies sin, violence, or ungodly lifestyles has no place in the life of a believer. Instead, we are to fill our minds with *"whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things"* (Philippians 4:8, WEB). Let worship and godly music replace what once bound you, for *"the Lord is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation"* (Psalm 118:14, WEB).
As for demonic spirits, we stand firmly on the authority of Jesus’ name, knowing that *"he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). The enemy has no power over those who are in Christ, for *"you are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). We command every unclean spirit, every stronghold from your past, and every influence that does not align with the will of God to flee from you now in the name of Jesus Christ. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB).
We encourage you to remain steadfast in your walk with the Lord. Surround yourself with fellow believers who will uplift and encourage you in your faith. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, WEB). If you have not already, we urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and be held accountable in love.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your child, who seeks freedom from the chains of the past. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who delivers, who breaks every bondage and sets the captives free. We ask that You sever every ungodly tie to the people, places, and influences of their past. Let there be no turning back, but only a forward march into the destiny You have prepared for them.
Father, we rebuke every demonic spirit that has sought to oppress or influence this beloved one. By the blood of Jesus and the power of His name, we command these spirits to flee and never return. Fill every void with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We pray for a renewed mind, Father. Wash away the memories and influences of ungodly music and replace them with songs of worship and praise that glorify Your name. Let their ears be tuned to Your voice alone, and let their heart be filled with Your truth.
Strengthen them, Lord, in their walk with You. Surround them with godly fellowship and protect them from the snares of the enemy. Let them walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ, knowing that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them.
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
