We join you in lifting this request before our Heavenly Father, for He alone can transform our hearts and free us from the bondage of selfishness and greed. The desire to be free from these sins is a godly one, for Scripture warns us that the love of money and self-centeredness can lead us away from the Lord and into destruction. As it is written in 1 Timothy 6:9-10, *"But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."*
Selfishness and greed are not just about material possessions—they stem from a heart that is not fully surrendered to Christ. The remedy is found in seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that He will provide all we need (Matthew 6:33). We must also remember the words of Jesus in Luke 12:15, *"Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses."* Our true treasure is found in Christ, and when we fix our hearts on Him, the pull of selfish desires weakens.
Let us also recall the example of our Lord Jesus, who, though He was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, that we through His poverty might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). His life was one of selfless love and sacrifice, and we are called to follow in His footsteps. If we confess our struggles with selfishness and greed, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
We pray with you now, asking the Lord to break every chain of selfishness and greed in your life. May He fill you with His Spirit, producing in you the fruit of generosity, love, and contentment. May you find your satisfaction in Him alone, and may your hands be open to bless others as He has blessed you.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this heartfelt request to be free from all selfishness and greed. Lord, You know the struggles of our hearts, and You alone can transform us from the inside out. We ask that You search this heart and reveal any area where selfishness or greed has taken root. Uproot these sins, Father, and replace them with a spirit of generosity, humility, and love.
Fill this beloved one with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the freedom and abundance of Your grace. Teach them to find their joy and contentment in You alone, not in the fleeting treasures of this world. Help them to trust in Your provision, knowing that You will supply all their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
We also pray for a heart that is quick to give, slow to hoard, and always ready to serve others in love. May they reflect the selfless love of Christ in all they do, that others may see their good works and glorify You (Matthew 5:16).
Break every stronghold of the enemy that seeks to keep them bound in selfishness. Let them experience the true freedom that comes from surrendering all to You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who gave Himself for us that we might live for Him. Amen.
