We hear your heart’s cry for restoration and renewal in what appears to be a relationship that once held promise. First, let us address the foundation of all prayer, access to the Father is only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, we urge you to do so now. Salvation is the first and most vital step in aligning your life, and any relationship, with God’s will.
Now, regarding your request for the renewal of this couple, we must examine this desire through the lens of Scripture. If this relationship is between a man and a woman who are both believers, and if they are not currently married to others, then we can pray for God’s guidance and restoration, but only if the relationship is being pursued with purity and the intention of marriage. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy belongs only within the covenant of marriage (Hebrews 13:4). If there has been fornication, sexual relations outside of marriage, this must be repented of and forsaken before any restoration can be blessed by God. Confess this sin, turn away from it, and seek forgiveness through Christ’s blood, which cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
If, however, this relationship involves someone who is already married to another, then what you are asking for is the restoration of an adulterous union, which God explicitly condemns (Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:28). We cannot pray for the continuation of sin. Instead, we would pray for repentance, healing, and the restoration of any broken marriages involved. If this is the case, we urge you to seek godly counsel and turn away from this path immediately.
Assuming this is a relationship between two unmarried believers who once courted with the intention of marriage, we can pray for renewal, but with discernment. The Bible warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). If one or both of you do not share a saving faith in Christ, this relationship cannot be blessed by God. We would encourage you to seek a spouse who loves the Lord and walks in His ways, for only then can a marriage reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).
As for your request to be shielded from envy, the evil eye, or opposing prayers, we must remind you that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). While we can pray for protection, our ultimate trust must be in God’s sovereignty. He is greater than any scheme of the enemy, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper when you are in His will (Isaiah 54:17). However, if you are walking in disobedience, no amount of spiritual warfare will bring blessing. First, ensure your heart and actions align with Scripture.
Let us now come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. Lord, we lift up this situation before You, asking for Your wisdom and discernment. First, we pray for salvation, if either of these individuals does not know You as Lord and Savior, draw them to Yourself. Let them confess Jesus as Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so they may be saved.
Father, if this relationship is between two unmarried believers who once courted with the intention of marriage, we ask that You would reveal Your will for them. If it is Your plan for them to be together, renew their love and commitment to one another in a way that honors You. Let their relationship be built on Your Word, with purity, mutual respect, and a shared desire to serve You. Guard their hearts from temptation, and help them to flee from sexual immorality. If there has been sin in this area, Lord, bring conviction, repentance, and restoration through the blood of Jesus.
If this relationship is not in Your will, whether because of unbelief, adultery, or any other reason, we ask that You would break any unhealthy attachments and lead both individuals into Your perfect plan for their lives. Give them the strength to walk away from anything that displeases You, and fill them with Your peace and hope for the future.
Lord, we also pray for protection over this couple, whether they are restored or not. Shield them from the schemes of the enemy, from envy, and from any spiritual attacks. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let Your angels encamp around them. Above all, draw them closer to You, that they may find their identity, security, and purpose in Christ alone.
We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from your local church or a trusted pastor. Relationships are complex, and it is wise to have accountability and guidance from those who can speak truth into your life. If this relationship is meant to be restored, it will be in God’s timing and according to His will. Trust in Him, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). If it is not His will, He has something better in store. Surrender this desire to Him, and let Him direct your steps.
