😓 Dreams form Holy Spirit While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6

Father, we come as little children in faith, contrary to all we see and hear, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Christ, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34. Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. We ask, with this husband for his wife, You give her a dream, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword." Again, as our father, Abraham, we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21 as written in Joel 2:28, ā€œAnd afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1. Thank You in in advance, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, Jesus' Name.

We join you in this childlike faith as you intercede as a husband for your wife, and we thank God for a marriage where a husband prays so earnestly for his wife, for this reflects the love Christ has for His church as taught in Eph 5:25. We agree with you that our God is able, and we stand with you on His Word.

We believe with you that God can and does speak in dreams and visions while sleeping. As you have quoted, Job 33:14 says For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed. Job 33:16 then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. And Num 12:6 says If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. And Joel 2:28 says It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. We also remember Matt 1:20 and Matt 2:12 where God warned Joseph in dreams, and Gen 20:3 and Dan 2:1 where He spoke even to those outside the covenant, for indeed nothing is impossible with God as you quoted from Luke 1:37 and Mark 10:27, and Job 42:2 says we know You can do all things. We affirm with you Rom 4:21 that God is able to fulfill what He has promised, and Heb 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and Isa 59:1 that Yahweh's hand is not shortened that it can't save.

At the same time we want to gently encourage you with biblical balance, so that your faith remains anchored. While God is sovereign and free to give dreams, His sure and final word to us is the Scripture, and every dream, vision, or impression must be tested against it. 2 Tim 3:16 says Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. Psalm 119:105 says Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. 1 John 4:1 tells us to test the spirits whether they are of God, and 1 Thess 5:21 to test all things and hold firmly that which is good. Even in the Old Testament God made a distinction between dreams and His more sure speaking through His Word, as Jer 23:28 says The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream, and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat says Yahweh. Heb 1:1-2 reminds us that God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son. Therefore we do not seek dreams as a higher authority than Scripture, nor do we command God, but we humbly ask according to His will.

We rejoice that you come through Jesus Christ, for Heb 7:25 says He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them, and Rom 8:34 reminds us Christ Jesus is he who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, as John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank you for praying in Jesus' Name.

So we pray together with you now, submitting all to the Father's perfect will.

Father, we come before You through Jesus Christ Your Son, with thanksgiving that You hear us when we pray according to Your will as 1 John 5:14 promises. We thank You that You are able and that nothing is too hard for You. We lift up this husband and his wife to You. You know their hearts, their needs, and the desire behind this request. If it is Your will, we ask that You would speak to this wife in the night, in a dream or vision, as You have done throughout Scripture, to turn her from wrongdoing, to keep her from pride, to preserve her from the pit as Job 33:17-18 describes, and to make Your will in Christ Jesus abundantly clear to her and to this family. Give her and her husband discernment to understand what is from You, and give them grace to test all things by Your Word.

We pray that whether by dream, by vision, or by the still small voice of Your Holy Spirit through Scripture, You would grant them clarity, peace, and assurance. Let Your Word dwell richly in them, and let Your Spirit lead them into all truth as John 16:13 promises. We ask that You strengthen their marriage, that they would grow together in faith, in holiness, and in love, seeking first Your kingdom. Help them to trust You not only for a sign but for Your sovereign goodness, remembering Mark 11:24 that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive when we ask in submission to Your will, and Heb 11:6 that without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. We thank You in advance, not demanding our way, but resting in Your perfect way, praying Your will be done as in Matt 6:10.

We ask that You keep them from deception and from elevating any experience above Christ and His Word. Let them find their confidence not in dreams alone but in the living Christ who ever lives to intercede for us. Fill them with hope, with childlike trust, and with patience to wait on You.

We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and mediator, amen.

We hear how much love is behind this prayer for your wife, and the childlike trust you are bringing to the Father on her behalf. That kind of steady intercession matters, and we are joining you in it.

We love that you want her to hear clearly from the Lord. What we hold onto is that the Holy Spirit is our Helper and Counselor who is faithful to guide, and He does it in a way that always lines up with the truth of Scripture and bears the fruit of love, peace and patience in our lives. Sometimes that is through a striking dream or impression, and often it is more quietly, through His Word, through prayer together, and through the gentle direction He gives day by day.

A simple next step that may help you both is to keep creating unpressured space for Him to speak. Continue praying as you are, and when she is open to it, pray together briefly and stay in the Word together, then talk honestly about what you are each sensing without needing to force a specific experience. That keeps the focus on seeking Him Himself, and trusting Him to make His will clear in His timing.

Father, we thank You for this husband's tender care for his wife and for his confidence in Your power to save and to lead. We ask You to draw them both closer to You, give them wisdom, unity and peace as they seek You, and guide them by Your Spirit in the way You know is best. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer on behalf of your wife has been laid before the Lord with thankfulness for the childlike faith which breathes through it. It is a beautiful thing to see a husband standing as intercessor for his wife, for true intercession is written upon the heart by God Himself, and there is no power like that of believing prayer. We join you in this holy work and count it a privilege to plead with you at the throne of grace.

You have rightly confessed what Scripture so plainly declares, that He is able to save forever those who come to God through Christ, because He lives to make intercession for us, and that with God nothing shall be impossible. The things which are impossible with man are possible with God, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. We rejoice that you come not upon any merit of your own, but through Jesus Christ alone, who is our great High Priest within the veil, and whose wounds plead with prevailing power for His people. He prays not for the world in that peculiar priestly sense, but for those whom the Father has given Him, and if we are in Christ, we may be sure His intercession for us shall not fail.

You ask that the Lord would speak in dreams and visions, as in Job and Joel and Numbers. We do not doubt the sovereignty of God to do so if it pleases Him. There is divine sovereignty in all things, and we must trace the hand of God in everything and admire His wisdom. He who spoke of old in diverse ways has now spoken most fully by His Son and in the sure Word of Scripture, and His Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God, never otherwise than is consistent with the divine will. Prayer prompted by the Holy Spirit is as the footfall of the divine decree, and therefore our wisdom is to bow with submission to that will and to ask that His will be done, trusting His guidance more than any sign we might desire.

The Scriptures you cite show that God can warn and turn the heart in the night season, to preserve from the pit and to keep from pride. Yet the surest guidance He gives is by His Word and by principles of holiness infused into the soul that takes God for its Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to walk in tender love and obedience to Christ. Haste is often the author of mischief, but waiting upon the Lord and searching the Scriptures brings unerring light. Let dreams never be put in the place of the Word, but let the Word test all things.

We will therefore pray with you, and we urge you to persevere in intercession, for he who has seen others blessed in answer to prayer may take it as a pledge of divine love. We ask the Father, in the name of Jesus, that He would draw your wife and your household nearer to Himself, that He would keep you both in His covenant grace, that He would grant you clear understanding of His will in Christ Jesus through the Scriptures, and that by His Spirit He would work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. If it be His wise and loving purpose to give comfort or conviction in the night watches, we pray He would do so, but above all we pray that you both may hear His voice daily in His Word, be kept from wrongdoing and pride, and be preserved unto His glory.

May the Lord establish your marriage in faithfulness and holiness, as He has ordained marriage to be the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, cemented by mutual love and reflecting Christ and His Church. May He cause you to walk humbly before Him, fully persuaded that what He has promised in Christ He is able also to perform.

We commend you to Him who guides His people with counsel and afterward will receive them to glory, entreating Him to answer according to His abundant mercy and perfect will.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
