Divorce

Disciple of Prayer
It is past 12:30am my husband ### has still not come home. He was a person who use to hate going out and likes to be at home. Now from past few months there is a lot of changes in his behaviour. He is always on a call with someone. Doesn't see if it is day or night. He is behind me to give divorce. Asking me to go away. I don't know if someone has done some black magic on him or he is madly attached to some other women. My husband is not taking interest in prayer as well. Avoiding pray and all. He is acting weird from past few months. Please pray for him. For my marriage to be restored. Regards, ###

We are deeply grieved to hear of the pain and confusion you are experiencing in your marriage. The changes in your husband’s behavior, his avoidance of home, constant calls, rejection of prayer, and demands for divorce, are heartbreaking, especially when they represent such a stark contrast to the man you once knew. We stand with you in prayer, lifting this burden before the Lord, who alone can restore what has been broken and heal what has been wounded.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). The sudden shift in your husband’s behavior, his rejection of prayer, his detachment from you, and his uncharacteristic actions, strongly suggests that the enemy is at work, seeking to destroy your marriage. We rebuke every spirit of deception, lust, confusion, and division that has taken hold of him in the name of Jesus Christ. We command these spirits to flee, for "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). The enemy has no authority over a child of God, and we declare that your husband is not his own, he was bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

We also want to gently but firmly address the possibility of sin in your husband’s life. If he has become entangled with another woman, this is adultery, and it is a grievous sin before God (Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:28). Adultery breaks the covenant of marriage and brings destruction to families. If this is the case, we pray that the Lord would convict his heart with godly sorrow, leading him to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). We also pray that any ungodly soul ties or emotional attachments would be broken in Jesus’ name. Your husband must turn away from any sin and return to the Lord with a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17).

We must also address the mention of "black magic" in your request. The Bible is clear that we are not to dabble in or fear occult practices, for they are detestable to the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Instead, we stand on the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already disarmed these powers and made a public spectacle of them (Colossians 2:15). We do not fear what the enemy can do, for "greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). We rebuke any demonic influence over your husband and command it to leave in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against your marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Your husband’s avoidance of prayer is deeply concerning, for prayer is our lifeline to God. Without it, we are left vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. We pray that the Lord would soften his heart and draw him back to Himself. "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8). We ask the Holy Spirit to convict him of his need for God and to restore his hunger for prayer and fellowship with the Lord.

We also want to encourage you, dear sister. This trial is not easy, but you are not alone. The Lord sees your tears, hears your prayers, and collects every one of them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are called to stand firm in faith, trusting that God is at work even when you cannot see it. Do not grow weary in praying for your husband, for "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16). Continue to love him with the love of Christ, even when it is difficult, and trust that God can soften even the hardest of hearts.

We also want to gently remind you that your hope must be in Jesus Christ alone. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is only by His blood that we are saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). If you or your husband have not placed your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Salvation comes through confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Without Christ, we are lost, but with Him, we have eternal life and the power to overcome every trial.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister and her marriage to You. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the brokenness in this situation. We ask that You would move mightily on behalf of this marriage, for what You have joined together, let no man, or spirit, separate (Matthew 19:6).

Father, we rebuke every spirit of deception, lust, confusion, and division that has taken hold of this husband. We command these spirits to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against it in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, break every ungodly soul tie, every emotional attachment, and every sinful pattern that has taken root in his life. Bring him to a place of repentance and restoration.

We pray for this husband, Lord. Soften his heart, draw him back to You, and restore his hunger for prayer and fellowship with You. Convict him of any sin in his life and lead him to repentance. Father, we ask that You would remove any influence of the enemy from his life and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Let him remember the vows he made before You and the love he once had for his wife.

Lord, we also pray for this wife. Strengthen her in her faith, give her patience in this trial, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help her to love her husband as You have called her to, even when it is difficult. Give her wisdom in how to respond to this situation, and let her trust in You completely.

Father, we declare that this marriage will be restored. We believe that You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Let Your glory be revealed in this situation, and let Your name be praised. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on God’s promises and trusting in His timing. Do not lose heart, for the Lord is faithful, and He will not abandon you. Surround yourself with godly counsel and support, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may He restore your marriage for His glory.

We can only imagine how heavy your heart must be as you watch this happen to your husband and your marriage, especially in the lonely hours of the night. The confusion, the hurt, and the wondering what or who has brought such a drastic change, those feelings are real, and you do not have to carry them alone.

When a spouse’s behavior shifts so suddenly and he becomes distant, secretive, and pressed for divorce, something significant is likely going on beneath the surface. It could be an emotional attachment to someone else, a spiritual oppression, or a combination of things. Whatever the cause, God is not surprised. He sees your husband’s choices and your pain, and He is with you even now.

We would gently urge you not to face this in isolation. Reach out to a wise pastor, a mature Christian friend, or a counselor you trust, someone who can pray with you, help you sort through what is happening, and support you as you figure out next steps. You need steady voices around you right now.

While you wait and pray, try to care for yourself: get whatever rest you can, and try not to let your mind spiral into what-ifs. The middle of the night often amplifies fear, but the dawn belongs to God. He is able to reach your husband in ways no one else can.

Let us pray for you both:

Father, in Jesus’ name we bring this wife and her husband before You. You see the hidden things, and You know exactly what has taken hold of his heart. We ask You to break any ungodly tie, any deception, or any oppressive influence that has drawn him away from his home and from You. Protect this wife’s heart and mind; give her peace that passes understanding in these anxious hours. Surround her with people who will love her well, speak truth, and help her walk wisely. We pray for his eyes to be opened, for genuine conviction and a turning back, but we trust You for the outcome. Hold her close tonight. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The trial you are now enduring is heavy, yet it is the glory of the Gospel that the Holy Spirit can come and change that nature so that a soul shall rise and rise, till, when Christ appears, he shall be like He. Your husband’s present wandering does not lie beyond the reach of redeeming grace. You speak of changes in him that suggest a direful influence at work, for this is a night wherein the powers of darkness are specially active. That same influence which assailed the Savior unsuccessfully, for the prince of this world had nothing in Him, may have found something in your husband, and the enemy means to tear down what God has joined together. But be of good courage: Jesus ever lives to intercede. He said to trembling Peter, “I have prayed for you,” and the effect of that prayer was made apparent in the Apostle’s restoration. So now, our Lord’s prayer for His own is as certain to prevail as ever. He will uplift your husband from among the siftings where Satan has thrown him.

Marriage is not a bond of convenience, but of sacred choice, cemented by mutual love. In a true marriage the husband and wife become one, yet one who has wandered may forget that union. How shall we call that a marriage where the two still maintain separation as if it were a scrupulous condition? That is foreign to the divine idea. Yet even from such a distance, God brings back the erring one. Peter went out, there was something suggestive in that action, but it was the beginning of his return. It may be that your husband, like Ephraim, will yet say, “What have I to do any more with idols?” That change must be spontaneous and hearty, the result of divine grace, and it is possible for the soul most entangled. What a change the grace of God works! It reverses the action of the entire machinery of our being. Where there is no present interest in prayer, the Spirit can create a thirst after God from the very dust.

Consider Peter’s restoration: it was sure because Christ prayed. And He ever lives. Therefore, though the hour is late and the darkness seems to gather, despair not. It is as the Lamb that love is proven; the marriage of the Lamb is come when the heart turns to His wounds and blood. There will be no marriage between any soul and Christ if they will not have Him as the Lamb; but when they see Him crucified for them, love springs up. Wait upon your Lord in prayer without ceasing. Many who once walked near to God in the country of early faith come up to this wicked ### of worldliness, and the change is a serious injury to them; yet the Shepherd goes after the lost one. Do not let bitterness take root; do not go away from Jesus yourself. There is no profit in despair. The joy of restoration is full, Peter could say, “Do not wander. There is no good in it. Come back to Him, there is such peace, such rest.”

The marriage supper of the Lamb is the fulfillment of long expectation, and blessed are they who are called to it. Your marriage here is a shadow of that eternal union, and the God who joined you is able to restore the years the locust has eaten. Take courage from the promise that Israel shall have both political and spiritual restoration, and that from the valley of dry bones, life can burst forth. The means of that restoration lie in the prophetic word and the breath of the Almighty. So pray: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon this slain, that he may live!” Hold fast the confidence that the change, when it comes, will be evident. You will not be converted in quite the same sense as at first, but you will be turned again to your old life and hope, and then you are to strengthen your brethren. Wait for it, work for it in prayer, and let not your faith fail. Though the fig tree does not blossom, yet trust in the God who has married Himself to His people in everlasting faithfulness.

You have done well to bring this before the Church, for prayer is the weapon of the faithful. Yet I must counsel you not to fix your mind on black magic or any such superstition. No power of darkness can bind a soul unless that soul first consents to evil. The adversary works not through charms, but through the lusts and vanities of this world. Consider whether your husband has been drawn into the traps that ruin so many marriages, the theatre, which Scripture calls a school of adultery, or the secret company of a harlot. Men who once loved home now wander abroad at all hours, enslaved to a passion that makes them strangers to their own households, even to prayer. This is the true sorcery: the madness of sinful desire.

Examine your own conduct, then, and see if any occasion has been given for his straying. A wife who wishes to keep or recall a husband must arm herself with gentleness and meekness, not with outward adornment or luxury. The Apostle teaches that the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the believing wife, and that she is not to leave him if he is willing to live with her. Do not therefore consent to divorce, nor meet his demands with strife, for that would be to drive him further away. If he insists on departing, the Apostle permits you to remain unmarried or to be reconciled, but you must not introduce another husband while this one lives. That way lies adultery, and your own soul would be defiled.

When you pray, say to God, “Whomsoever Thou wilt, do Thou provide; into Thy hands I commit my marriage.” Beseech Christ to be present, as He was at the well with the Samaritan woman who had had five husbands and lived with one not her own. He knows your sorrow; He can open your husband’s eyes and turn his heart. Such a conversion will come not by your fretting, but by your holy and blameless life. Let the Church continue to pray, and you also, with fasting and tears, yet without despair. Remember the rest that awaits the faithful, where there is no dark night, no pain, no sin, only light and joy. Endure this trial as a widow in spirit, clinging to God, so that whether your husband returns or not, you may find true peace for your soul.

Your heart is heavy as the hours drag on, and the ache of a marriage thrown into confusion is raw and deep. When the one who once loved home and quiet now chases shadows and demands separation, it feels like a storm that will not break. Take a breath, and know that you are not alone in the darkness of this night.

What God has joined together, sin and temptation seek to tear apart. In marriage, two are made one, a profound unity that reflects something eternal. That bond is not just a contract to be dismissed. The enemy of our souls always aims to fracture what God designs as whole. Your husband’s sudden withdrawal, the secrecy on calls, the cold push for divorce, these are not merely behavior changes. They are the outward signs of a heart that has wandered from the shelter of God’s presence and forgotten who he is in Christ.

Do not be quick to give credit to black magic or dark spells. The real battle is within the heart and the pull of desires that war against the Spirit. The world spins countless fanciful tales to explain away our need for God, but every straying begins when a person stops beholding the face of Jesus. Your husband’s avoidance of prayer is the deepest symptom. A soul that will not bend the knee soon finds itself captive to impulses it cannot control.

Yet no captivity is beyond the reach of the Deliverer. We no longer remember a lamb killed in Egypt as our hope; we cling to the Lamb of God who was broken for us, whose blood sets prisoners free from the bondage of sin. True conversion brings repentance, a turning, a visible restoration. The tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus not as unchanged rebels but as people being made new. That same power can reclaim your husband. Pray not just for a change in circumstances, but for a broken and contrite heart that leads him to run back to the cross.

Many imagine that the kingdom of God spreads like a gentle, rising tide that slowly makes everything better. But real transformation often comes through upheaval and the humbling that brings a person to the end of themselves. These painful months may be the very means God uses to expose the emptiness of whatever holds your husband’s affections. Do not lose hope. Keep praying, even when you feel your own strength failing. Ask the Lord to open his eyes to the fleeting nature of sin and to restore the love and commitment he once held.

As you wait in this long night, let your own heart be anchored in the certainty of the resurrection. Even if this earthly marriage must walk through a valley of brokenness, you serve the God who raises the dead and brings beauty from ashes. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who intercedes for us and will not abandon you. I am joining my prayers with yours, for your husband’s true repentance, for your protection from bitterness, and for the restoration of your marriage as a testimony to the grace that overcomes even the deepest wandering.
