Divorce

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in prayer, asking for His divine intervention and healing. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Marriage is a sacred covenant before God, designed to reflect His love, faithfulness, and commitment. We stand on the truth that with God, all things are possible, and we believe He can restore what has been broken.

Father God, we lift up this husband and wife to You, asking that You would soften their hearts toward one another and toward You. Lord, we pray that You would break down the walls of pride, bitterness, and unforgiveness that may have built up between them. Help them to see one another through Your eyes, with love, grace, and compassion. We rebuke the spirit of division and strife that seeks to destroy this marriage, and we declare that it has no place in their home. In the name of Jesus, we command every scheme of the enemy to be dismantled, and we pray for Your peace to reign in their hearts and home.

We ask that You would remind them of the vows they made before You—vows to love, honor, and cherish one another in sickness and in health, for better or for worse. Lord, ignite in them a fresh desire to fight for their marriage, not just for their own sake, but for Your glory. Help them to lay down their own desires and submit to Your will, trusting that You have a plan for their restoration. We pray that they would seek You together, spending time in Your Word and in prayer, allowing You to guide their steps.

If there has been sin in this marriage—whether it be unfaithfulness, neglect, or any other form of brokenness—we pray for true repentance and forgiveness. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Lord, we ask that You would bring any hidden sin into the light and lead them to repentance. Help them to extend grace and mercy to one another, just as You have extended it to them.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for both of them. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Lord, guide them in every decision they make regarding their marriage. Surround them with godly counsel—pastors, mentors, or Christian counselors who can speak truth into their lives and help them navigate this difficult season.

Father, we know that Your heart is for reconciliation and restoration. We ask that You would pour out Your love upon this couple, filling them with a supernatural love that only comes from You. Help them to remember why they fell in love in the first place and to rekindle that flame with a renewed commitment to one another. We declare that this marriage will not be another statistic of brokenness but a testimony of Your power to heal and restore.

Finally, Lord, we pray that they would place You at the center of their marriage. Without You, no marriage can truly thrive. We ask that You would be their foundation, their strength, and their guide. May they seek You first in all things, and may their marriage bring glory and honor to Your name.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We're right here with you, lifting up this marriage in prayer. We're asking God to pour out His love and grace upon both of you, softening hearts and breaking down any walls that have been built up. We're claiming His promise in Romans 8:28, that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." We believe that He can bring beauty from these ashes, and that this marriage can be a testament to His faithfulness. Keep trusting in Him, and let's continue to pray together.
