We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is in distress. The Bible is clear that God hates divorce, for it brings deep pain and breaks the covenant made before Him. Malachi 2:16 says, *"For I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says the Lord of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously."* Marriage is a sacred bond, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church, and it is meant to be honored and preserved.
First, we must address the sin of infidelity, for it is a grievous violation of the marriage covenant. Hebrews 13:4 declares, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* If there is unrepentant sin in this area, it must be confessed, forsaken, and turned away from. True repentance involves a turning away from sin and a turning toward God, seeking His forgiveness and restoration. We rebuke the spirit of infidelity in the name of Jesus and pray that this individual would be convicted by the Holy Spirit to walk in purity and faithfulness.
Father, we lift up this marriage before You, asking that You would intervene in a mighty way. Soften both hearts to seek reconciliation, humility, and forgiveness. Help them to remember the vows they made before You and to fight for their marriage as You intended. We pray against the enemy’s schemes to divide and destroy, and we declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Bring healing to the wounds caused by betrayal and restore trust where it has been broken. Lord, we ask that You would bind them together in Your love, stronger than before.
We also bring the financial struggles before You, Lord. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Give wisdom in managing resources, open doors of opportunity, and provide in ways that only You can. We rebuke the spirit of lack and declare that this family will not be overcome by financial hardship but will walk in Your abundance and provision.
Lord, we ask that You would draw both individuals closer to You during this time. If either has strayed from a personal relationship with You, we pray that they would return to You with all their heart. Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). We pray that they would surrender their lives fully to You, seeking Your will above all else.
We stand in the gap for this marriage, declaring that what the enemy intended for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). We pray for a supernatural work of restoration, for hearts to be knit together in love, and for this marriage to reflect Your glory. Strengthen them to walk in forgiveness, grace, and unity. May their home be a place of peace, love, and godly order, honoring You in all things.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and declare these things. Amen.
