Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear the desire in your heart to feel fabulous, valued, seen and admired, and we understand how the world tells us that being a diva is the way to feel beautiful and important. The culture celebrates being demanding, attention seeking, and exalted above others, but God calls us to a very different kind of beauty and worth.

The spirit of a diva is often rooted in pride, vanity, and self exaltation, and Scripture warns us about this. Proverbs 16:18 says Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. James 4:6 tells us God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 1 Peter 3:3-4 reminds us Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing gold, or of putting on fine clothing, but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. And Proverbs 31:30 says Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised. The Lord does not look as man looks, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7. When we chase a fabulous image for the applause of others we can fall into emptiness, comparison, and pride, which pulls us away from the joy of serving God and others in humility as Philippians 2:3-4 teaches, doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself.

We want to encourage you that you are already fabulous in the eyes of your Creator, not because of performance or glamour, but because you are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image Psalm 139:14. Your true worth is not in being a diva who demands to be served, but in being a daughter of the King who humbly serves in love. True radiance comes from a heart transformed by Christ, marked by kindness, modesty, gentleness and strength under control. That kind of beauty does not fade and does not need constant validation.

We notice your request did not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and find our true identity. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Apart from Him we chase empty definitions of fabulous, but in Him we are forgiven, made new, and clothed in His righteousness. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to turn from sin and believe in Him, that He died for your sins and rose again, so you may have eternal life and a new heart.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift this precious one before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You made her with beauty and purpose, and that You love her more deeply than any applause of this world ever could. We ask You to forgive pride and the desire to be exalted above others, and to cleanse her heart and make it humble before You. Pour out Your grace upon her, for You give grace to the humble. Help her to see her true worth as Your daughter, created for good works and loved with an everlasting love. Replace the longing to be a diva with a longing to be like Christ, gentle, humble, serving in love, and radiant with the inner beauty that is precious in Your sight. Teach her to find her fabulousness not in outward show but in walking with You, fearing You, and reflecting Your light to others. Draw her into a personal relationship with Jesus, that she may know salvation, forgiveness, and the joy of belonging to You forever. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We loved hearing the delight in your note. That feeling of stepping into something fabulous and feeling fully alive is a real joy, and thank you for letting us share in it a little.

We imagine being a diva for you is about more than just the look. It is often about confidence, creativity, being seen and celebrated. Those longings to shine and to feel valued are deeply human.

One thing we have found helpful to sit with is noticing what that fabulous feeling gives you and what remains when the music stops and the lights are off. Who you are when no one is watching matters just as much as who you are on stage, and you are worthy of care and respect in both places.

If it would help, you might take a few quiet minutes this week to notice when you feel most like yourself, whether that is in diva mode or in ordinary moments, and bring those observations honestly to God in prayer. He delights to hear your honest heart.

Father, thank You for the person who wrote this and for the joy they feel when they shine. Help them to know they are deeply seen, valued and loved for who they are, not only for how they perform. Give them wisdom and peace as they sort through what brings lasting confidence and joy. Lead them closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a solemn truth written for our warning, that before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. The desire to be admired and exalted as a fabulous diva is one which the Scriptures lay bare, for there is nothing into which the heart so easily falls as pride, and yet there is no vice more frequently and more earnestly condemned in the Word of God.

Pride has its seat and throne in the heart, and its consequence is destruction. It takes many shapes, and one of its most deceitful forms is vanity. There are divers kinds of vanity, light and open as in the sport of the frivolous, and more deceitful as in the love of wealth and display, and even a solemn vanity that would clothe itself in show. To live for the gaze and praise of others is vanity, and Solomon who knew the world at its best has given the verdict upon it, Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

The prayer which will best meet your case is that of the Psalmist, Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken thou me in thy way. We are not compelled by necessity to look upon vanity, but so disposed is our nature that unless the Lord Himself turn our eyes, we shall surely run after it. True humility is not that which lives only in the face or in outward show, for the imitation of humility is the nearest thing in the world to pride. Humility must be genuine and have its throne in the heart, and it is to be sought as a gift from God.

Consider also what cause we have for lowliness. We are mortal creatures, and we are depraved creatures who have nothing that we did not receive. If beauty or talent or admiration be given, did we make it ourselves. What hast thou that thou didst not receive. For that reason there can never be any reasonableness in dreaming that there is in us any cause for pride. Pride is hateful to God, and it cannot endure honest questioning.

May the Lord in mercy turn your eyes from the empty praise of being seen as a diva, and quicken you in His own way. May He show you that honour which comes from Him is cast in the fashion of humility, and that faith and humility go hand in hand, the one bold as a lion in Christ, the other meek as a dove before Him. There is no rest for the heart in vanity, but there is rest for all who come to Christ alone, for He says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Seek of God the gift of true humility, to serve the Lord with all humility of mind, and to find your worth not in the applause of others but in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Your willingness to share this desire so openly is heard, and it is good to bring such longings into the light before God. The wish to be a fabulous diva often comes from a deep desire to be seen, admired and celebrated by others. Scripture shows us that this way does not satisfy and does not lead to life.

The Preacher who had houses, vineyards, gardens, servants and every outward pleasure came to the end of it all and said vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Pride is the fountain of all wickedness, while humility is the principle of all self control and the groundwork of every good thing. Jesus began his teaching with blessed are the poor in spirit, to show that lowliness of mind must be the foundation. Without humility a person cannot be saved, even with many good deeds, but with humility all is made safe and lovely before God.

To make ourselves great by outward show, by enlarging the borders of our garments, by careful and costly dress, by an affected voice or manner or look, is a sign of extreme vanity. It may have a show of wisdom and beauty, but it has no power to restrain the flesh or to make the soul beautiful. Such adornment is the way courtesans allure others, and it brings harm rather than honor, even when the heart did not intend it. For this reason Scripture calls us to modest apparel with shamefacedness, to glorify God in our body and spirit, and not to teach others to admire mere outward form.

True honor is not found in being celebrated as a diva, but in a humble heart that acknowledges need, serves the Lord with all humility of mind, and seeks his mercy with tears. That humility is lovely before God and before people, and it is the way to grace.

So my prayer for you is not that God would establish you in a life lived for applause, for I cannot ask him to bless what feeds pride and vanity. Instead I pray that he would give you a humble and contrite heart, that you would see the emptiness of living for display, and find fullness in being known and loved by Christ. May he turn your desire for admiration into a desire for his grace, teach you to delight in modesty, gentleness and meekness, and help you seek the wealth that never fades and never leaves, which is his lovingkindness. May you come to know the quiet joy of living not to be seen by many, but to be faithful before the One who sees in secret and rewards with everlasting blessing.
