Dishonesty

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.

We join with you in this prayer before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, and we thank you for coming boldly before His throne with such grace and truth. We agree with you that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him, John 14:6. We also join you in thanking Him for His presence, for fighting for us, and for the precious gift of the Cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for us sinners while we were still sinners, Romans 5:8.

We hear your burden concerning dishonesty and the seriousness of lies, and we affirm with you that God takes truth very seriously. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight, Proverbs 12:22. Scripture warns us not to lie to one another, Colossians 3:9, and calls us instead to speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another, Ephesians 4:25. Jesus taught us that you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, John 8:32, and it is that freedom we desire for all involved, including the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives.

We are encouraged by the grace God has given you to show patience and kindness even in the midst of hardship and while facing dishonesty. This reflects the heart of Christ in you. At the same time, we understand the weight of what you have endured, that to persist in lying and to commit serious wrongs, a person must harden their conscience and break down their resistance to sin. We pray with you that the Lord would rebuild that holy resistance in their hearts, that He would convict them and open their eyes before they suffer the deeper consequences of unrepentance, for all liars will have their part in the second death, Revelation 21:8, and God desires mercy and repentance rather than judgment.

We also pray for justice and for truth to be revealed in this legal matter. We entrust this situation to the Lord who loves righteousness and justice, Psalm 33:5, and we ask Him to let truth prevail and to guard you from further harm.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You and we thank You for Your faithful presence and for the sacrifice of Your Son. Lord, You are the God of truth and there is no unrighteousness in You. We lift up to You the landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives. Lord, we ask that You would work in their hearts, convict them of any dishonesty, and build in them a strong resistance to lying. Open their eyes to see that truth brings freedom and that deception brings bondage and judgment. Lead them to repentance and to practice honesty in all they do and say. Father, we also lift up these Your children who have shown patience and kindness under trial. Strengthen them, vindicate them according to Your righteousness, and let Your truth shine brightly in this situation. Help them to continue to commit their way to You and trust in You, for You will bring it to pass and will make Your righteousness shine as the light, Psalm 37:5-6. We surrender our lives and our will to You, trusting Your perfect will and timing. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk in truth and love, to speak the truth in love, Ephesians 4:15, and to trust the Lord to be your defender. He sees all that is done in secret and He will bring justice in His perfect way. Keep surrendering your will to Him daily and resting in the freedom that comes from walking in His truth.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer. It takes real grace to have been through hardships with a landlord and legal process and still ask God to bless those on the other side with honesty rather than asking only for vindication.

Wanting them to grow in resistance to dishonesty is a loving way to pray. Dishonesty often starts small and then needs more covering up, and you named that well. Praying for truth to take root in them is praying for their good, not just for your case to go better.

We also hear the cost to you in choosing patience and kindness while you wait. That is not easy to sustain day after day, especially when paperwork and legal steps drag on. It helps to keep walking in truth yourselves, keeping clear records, staying steady in what you say and do, and leaning on a trusted pastor or wise counselor who can walk with you through the practical side as well as the spiritual.

Father, we lift this situation to You in Jesus name. Thank You for the grace You have already given to respond with patience. We ask You to work honesty in the hearts of everyone involved, to protect our friend from discouragement, and to lead each next step according to Your will. Give peace as they surrender this to You. Amen.

Your prayer concerning dishonesty has been brought before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace.

We thank God with you that Jesus Christ is indeed the way, the truth and the life, and that there is salvation in no other. His blood shed upon the Cross is the only ground upon which sinners such as we are can stand before a holy God, and it is upon that ground of truth, sad truth as to our own sin and blessed truth as to His atonement, that the Father meets with us.

You have done well to pray for those who have dealt falsely with you, for this is to overcome evil with good. The worldling overcomes by cunning and by force, but saints first learn the art of overcoming evil and then they learn also how grace can prevail even with the Lord Himself in prayer. Continue in that patience and kindness which has been shown to you, for truth never exerts such power as when it is embodied in a life. Truth spoken may be opposed, but truth lived out in the life of a man through the Spirit of God bears witness that Christ reigns within.

We join you in asking that the Lord would build up in the landlord's team, the lawyers and all their representatives, a holy resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty. Lies are not light things, for our God is a God of truth who cannot lie, and His Word is truth. To break down resistance to falsehood is to wound the conscience and to invite the consequences which must follow, but to buy the truth and sell it not, to have truth in doctrine, truth in the heart and truth in the life, is to walk in the light. We pray that their eyes may be opened to see that the truth shall make them free, not in bondage, and that they may come to honest dealing with God and with men, confessing wherein they have erred and forsaking the false way.

Take comfort that this truth ought to strengthen your faith and banish your fear of man. Why should you fear man that shall die, when the Lord who rules over all has promised that heaven and earth shall pass away but His Word shall not fail. He will not deny Himself. Cast your burden upon Him in this hardship, trusting His providence and submitting to His will, knowing that He fights for His people and blesses them with heavenly gifts.

May the Spirit of God help you to hold fast the truth you have received, to walk in it daily, and to look for the appearing of Him who is Himself the Truth. We commend you and all concerned to Him who is abundant in goodness and truth, praying that He will bring forth righteousness and lead all to repentance and faith in Christ.
