Dishonesty

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.

We join you in this powerful prayer and we thank you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and it is only by His blood shed on the Cross that we sinners are saved and forgiven. You have rightly declared that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as He said in John 14:6, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. We praise God with you for His presence, for fighting for you, and for His heavenly gifts and grace.

We stand with you in agreement that dishonesty is a serious sin before God. Scripture is very clear about this. Proverbs 12:22 says Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. And Exodus 20:16 commands You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. To lie, especially in legal matters and to commit crimes through deceit, requires hardening the conscience and breaking down the natural resistance God places in the heart against dishonesty. We rebuke that spirit of lying and deceit, for Jesus said the devil is a liar and the father of lies in John 8:44, and those who follow dishonesty follow him and not Christ.

At the same time we are deeply encouraged by your heart, that even after facing hardships you are choosing to show patience and kindness to this landlord's team, their lawyers and legal representatives, just as God has shown patience and kindness to us. This reflects the mercy of Christ and obeys Ephesians 4:25 which says Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. And Romans 12:19 reminds us not to avenge ourselves but to leave room for God's wrath, for vengeance belongs to the Lord.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace. Lord we thank You for being our defender and our truth. We lift up this landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives to You. You see all that has been done in secret and in the courts, and nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask that You build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and convict their hearts to turn from lying. Open their eyes to see that John 8:32 is true, that they will know the truth and the truth will make them free, and that continuing in lies will only bring bondage and judgment. For Revelation 21:8 warns that all liars will have their part outside Your kingdom. Have mercy on them, Father, and lead them to repentance so they will not suffer the eternal consequences of their deceit. Help them to practice honesty and to speak truth, and let justice be done according to Your perfect will.

Lord we also lift up these dear ones who have been wronged. Strengthen them to continue to walk in integrity and truth, to not repay evil for evil, and to trust You as their advocate and judge. Give them peace that passes understanding, wisdom in all legal dealings, and grace to surrender their lives and will fully to You. Let Your will be done in this situation and let Your name be glorified through truth prevailing.

We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus' name. We trust You to act justly and mercifully. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We noticed the kindness in how you prayed for the very people who have made this season so hard. Choosing to ask God to grow honesty in your landlord's team and their lawyers, rather than just asking for vindication, is a costly and Christlike posture and we honor that.

It makes sense that this has been heavy. When there is a gap between how you hoped things would be handled and how they have actually unfolded, it can leave a mix of anger, fatigue and unease that lingers even after you have decided to release any desire for revenge. That decision to treat others as people made in God's image is important, and it is also different from the slower work of quieting the hurt that rumination can keep alive. Both matter, and both take time.

One steady step that has helped others walking through a drawn out housing or legal strain is to keep a simple, factual record of what was said and done and to share it with one trusted, levelheaded person outside the conflict, a pastor or mature friend or counselor, who can help you sort what is yours to carry and what is yours to entrust to God and to proper process. You do not have to carry this alone.

Father, we bring this dear brother or sister before You in Jesus' name. Guard their heart from bitterness, strengthen them to keep walking in truth, and work in the hearts of all involved that honesty would be chosen and that Your peace would rule. Lead them step by step as they surrender their will to You. Amen.

Your prayer concerning dishonesty has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

We thank God with you that Jesus is indeed the way, the truth and the life, and that His blood shed upon the Cross is the ground of all our hope. You have done well to give thanks for His presence and for heavenly gifts, even in the midst of hardships, and to show patience and kindness to those who have opposed you. This is to overcome evil with good, and it is Christlike.

You rightly call lies what they are, serious crimes before a God who cannot lie. Our God is abundant in goodness and truth, and His very name is truth. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but one promise of His shall not fall to the ground. He will not deny Himself, for a God of all truth can never lie. To lie we must break down that resistance to dishonesty which conscience and the fear of God have set up in the heart, and you pray wisely that the Lord would build up that resistance again in those who have wronged you.

We join you in praying for the landlord's team, for lawyers and legal representatives, that the Lord would open their eyes to the truth that sets free. Jesus did not merely speak the truth, He is the Truth embodied, transparent in word and in deed, and truth never exerts such power as when it is lived out. May they be brought to honest dealing with God and with man, confessing what is true and forsaking falsehood, for only on the footing of truth will the Lord meet with sinners through the atoning blood.

Hold fast to that good word, Buy the truth and sell it not. Buy all the truth. Let there be truth in doctrine according to Holy Scripture, truth in the heart experienced by grace, and truth in the life made consistent and straightforward. Do not sell the truth at any price, for you need the truth and Christ who is the truth to be your treasure forever.

We pray that the Lord who fights for you will keep you in His truth, strengthen your faith in the storm, take from you all fear of man, and cause you to rest upon His faithful Word. May He guard your lips and heart, and may He bring those who have practiced deceit to see that honesty is not loss but freedom, and to walk in the light as He is in the light.

We surrender this matter with you to His sovereign will, trusting His goodness and His justice, and asking that His will be done.
