Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this prayer so openly and for bringing this painful situation before the Lord with such grace. To face dishonesty in a legal matter, especially when it involves those who represent authority like a landlord and lawyers, is a heavy burden, and it is evident that God has already given you a spirit of patience and kindness toward them even while you have suffered hardship. That response honors Him.
Scripture shows us how deeply God cares about truth because truth reflects His own nature. Jesus said He Himself is the way, the truth and the life, and His word is truth that endures forever while heaven and earth will pass away. For that reason lying lips are described as an abomination to the Lord, and we are commanded to speak truth with one another and to not lie to one another. There are times when wisdom calls us to remain silent rather than to speak, but God never calls us to speak what is false. Those who follow empty lies forsake their own mercy, and lies always carry consequences.
You prayed with insight when you noted that to continue in lying a person must break down the inner resistance to dishonesty. Conscience becomes hardened step by step. The enemy also works to blind eyes so people cannot see the truth of their own condition. Only the truth can set a person free, as Jesus said, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. We can pray in love that God would open eyes that have been blinded and restore a sensitivity to what is true, and we can in gentleness teach and live the truth before them. God sees every legal transaction. As in the account of Boaz who called the elders of the city to witness what was done lawfully and openly, so the Lord Himself is the faithful witness over every claim and document and hearing. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He will bring justice in His time.
It is a great joy to the Lord when His children walk in truth and continue in it without turning aside. That is what you are seeking to do as you surrender your will to Him and dedicate your life anew to Him. Continue to walk in that truth, holding to His word which dwells in us and will be with us forever. Grace and mercy and peace come to us from the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ in truth and love, and those gifts will sustain you as you wait on Him.
We join you in prayer now, that the Father would work in the hearts of the landlord, the team, the lawyers and the legal representatives involved. We ask that He would build up in them a renewed resistance to dishonesty, a love for what is honest and right, and that He would open their eyes to see that truth brings freedom while lies bring judgment. We pray that He would guard your heart, keep you in His peace, and help you to continue showing the same patience and kindness that has been shown to you, trusting that He is fighting for you and that He who shed His blood for sinners is able to transform any heart. May He establish you in His truth and keep you walking in it for His glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
