Dishonesty

Your prayer reflects a heart that wants to honor God even while facing hardship, and that is pleasing to Him. Thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord with honesty and with a desire to surrender your own will to His.

You are right to take dishonesty seriously. Scripture shows that God does not deal in hidden craftiness or deceit, but in the open manifestation of truth. To try to cover things before God accomplishes nothing, because He knows the heart fully. What we try to hide, He already sees. His way is to renounce the hidden things of dishonesty and walk openly in truth, and He calls His people to do the same.

Jesus said He Himself is the way, the truth, and the life, and that the truth will set us free. That freedom is not just information, but a Person. The Spirit bears witness because the Spirit is truth, and He testifies to our hearts about what is true. When we have come to know Jesus, we come to know truth by experience, not just as an idea. That truth dwells in us and will be with us forever, and there is no greater joy than to walk in it.

It is gracious that even while you have suffered difficulty with the landlord's team and legal representatives, God has given you grace to show patience and kindness. That is the fruit of walking in truth and love. Grace, mercy and peace come from the Father and from Jesus Christ His Son, in truth and love, and that is what sustains us when others do not walk the same way.

Scripture also teaches that the enemy blinds minds and distorts truth, holding people in deception. That is why prayer is so needed. As you pray for those who have chosen dishonesty, you are asking God to break that blinding and to build in them a resistance to lying and a love for what is true. God can open eyes to see that honesty is not a burden but the path to freedom, while lying always brings painful consequences.

Truth is not always well received. Many would rather be flattered than corrected, and telling the truth can even bring opposition. Our aim is not to please people but to please God, who loves us and gave His Son to die in our place so our sins could be forgiven. That is the great truth of the gospel, that there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.

Continue to commend yourself to God with a clear conscience, walking in the plain truth of His Word and trusting Him as the righteous judge who sees every legal transaction and every hidden motive. He is faithful to fight for you and to bless you as you remain in Christ, and He will honor your commitment to truth.
