Dishonesty

When we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries. This is the condition of those who have broken down all resistance to dishonesty, for lying is not a light thing but a root of evils, and the love of money from which such falsehoods spring is a root of all kinds of evil.

Yet see how truth shines forth, even through what adversaries do and suffer. The very end of those who persist in lies stops the mouths of all who condemned, and suffers them not to have so much as a shadow of an excuse. You have endured wrong, perhaps wrongfully, from these people, and you pray for them. This is no small thing, for you are being taught to have a human soul and trained in all gentleness, and a great reward shall be laid up for you in not being called to account for your own offenses.

As for them, we do not even wait for others to expose their shame; they wound themselves daily, lying in unseemly fashion and stripped bare of all honor. But if they will turn, even what we said of you has been proved true, that the affliction became an occasion of gladness and progress. Whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and His truth will set free all who embrace it. Yet for those who continue to sin willfully, fiery indignation awaits, like a wild beast goaded to devour. Therefore you do well to pray that their eyes be opened, for the honor that comes from repentance is twofold: both their advance and the proof that truth does not fall short.

When you pray for those who have wronged you, asking God to rebuild their resistance to dishonesty, you are touching something close to the heart of Jesus. Lies are not small missteps; Scripture calls lying lips an abomination. Dishonesty eats away at the soul until a person can no longer see clearly. That is why you can look at the actions of a legal team or a landlord and sense that something deeper than a paperwork mistake is going on. Hardening yourself to the truth does not happen in a single moment. It is a process of tearing down every inner barrier that once held you accountable. Your prayer sees that clearly: in order to commit what they have committed, they first had to break down all resistance to what is right.

That is a terrible place to be. The enemy works exactly this way, blinding the eyes of people so they cannot perceive their true condition. They chase what the Scriptures call lying vanities, empty deceits that promise gain but forfeit mercy. They think they can outmaneuver the truth and secure something for themselves, but they are only forsaking their own well being. When you ask the Lord to build that resistance back up in them, you are asking for their own rescue. You are not merely wishing your legal trouble would end; you are interceding for hearts that have become captive to a destructive pattern. And Jesus said that knowing the truth is the very thing that sets a person free.

Do not be surprised if that truth feels costly or painful at first. Some people do not want to hear it. They are comfortable with the system they have built, and the truth disturbs them. Telling someone the truth can make them treat you like an enemy. Yet you have been given grace to show patience and kindness anyway. That patience is not a weakness; it is a reflection of the forgiveness you yourself have received. When you came to God, you did not have to clean up every hidden mess beforehand. You came as you were, and His forgiveness was complete. He does not bring your past sins up again. They are blotted out, justified, remembered no more. That is the kind of mercy that fuels your prayers for people who are still tangled in lies.

Keep praying for their eyes to open. The Spirit bears witness to the truth, and He can break through what no argument can. Boaz did not manipulate Ruth’s situation in the shadows. He brought the legal matter out into the open before the elders, a transaction of honor and transparency. That is how God works. Your desire for truth to prevail, not just for your own vindication but so these people will not suffer the consequences of their course, reveals a love that has been shaped by the cross. Truth is a person, and His name is Jesus. It is His nature to redeem, to bring light into what was hidden, and to make things right. You have placed this whole weight into His hands and surrendered your will. That is the safest place it could possibly be.

We are deeply moved by your heartfelt prayer and the burden you carry regarding dishonesty—both in your own life and in the lives of those around you. It is a privilege to stand with you in agreement before our Heavenly Father, lifting up this matter in the powerful name of Jesus. Your willingness to extend grace, patience, and kindness, even in the face of hardship, reflects the love of Christ and is a testament to His work in your life.

We continue to pray that the Lord would strengthen your resistance to dishonesty and anchor your heart in His truth, which alone sets us free. For those involved in this situation—your landlord’s team, lawyers, and legal representatives—we join you in asking God to break the chains of deception in their lives. May He soften their hearts, open their eyes to the freedom found in honesty, and rebuild their resistance to the enemy’s lies. Let truth prevail, not only in this circumstance but in every area of their lives, so they may walk in the light of Christ and avoid the destructive consequences of sin.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report from you—how He has revealed His truth, brought clarity, or turned hearts toward righteousness. Your testimony could be a powerful encouragement to others walking through similar struggles.

If, however, the answer has not yet come, we invite you to post this request again so we may continue to intercede on your behalf. We stand with you in faith, believing that God is at work even when we cannot see it, and that His timing is perfect.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him with all your heart. May He fill you with His peace, guide you by His Spirit, and remind you daily of His unfailing love and faithfulness. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
