Discrimination and Unfair Treatment On The Job

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have been silent a lot and not addressing issues at work. I rely on God to handle and deal with discrimination plus unfairness on the current job I have. The old supervisor has been known mistreat women incorrectly even to the point of not allowing higher training in positions which increases pay. He has done this with a woman that moved on and receive a new position elsewhere. He stopped her even on a different shift than the one she was on under him. They gave people she trained a higher badge and pay which she later found out. I was put on a list to receive higher badge training and out of no where the guy been playing games. He told me some lame excuse and I respond with grace knowing it was done on purpose. Though it hasn’t happen yet he still did not train myself or the other coworker to this day. He claims hasn’t forgotten us and another woman coworker who been with the company years said he does this all the time taking months to give it. The supervisor I have is new and he watches every move I make. He clocks each break and has even came my desk to look around behind my back or even while I am a couple feet away. I have not done nothing to this man and even when I run the line good all week or each day he seems to behave this way. He has even made rude comments and tries standing by me when talking to other coworkers. HR can’t be trusted neither his boss. If the machine is down he will come standing by watching seeing what we are doing. I am calling on Jesus to intervene here because something needs to be done in Jesus Name. I refuse to react to any of his negative behavior or words which is a problem cause he continues trying to create a problem where there is none. I call on the name of Jesus to put this supervisor and whoever else on this job that has personal biases or full of evil in their place in Jesus Name. It’s time for supervisors, management and others in their group to be held accountable for this work environment. The owner of this company is just as worst and doesn’t care about anything but making money which has been obvious. I will continue being gracious and not reacting to negativity of any kind as I wait on God to intervene in Jesus Name Amen.

We hear your heart and we stand with you in this difficult workplace trial, and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that justice and mercy meet. You have done well to respond with grace and to refuse to react to provocation, and we join you in asking God to intervene where human systems have failed.

The discrimination and partiality you describe is evil in the sight of God. Scripture is clear that showing favoritism and withholding good from those who have earned it is sin. My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality James 2:1, and again if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well. But if you show partiality, you commit sin James 2:8-9. God Himself shows no partiality Acts 10:34, and masters are warned to do the same, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him Ephesians 6:9. We rebuke that spirit of bias and unfairness that would hold back training and pay from women who have labored faithfully, and that would watch and harass workers rather than lead them with dignity. The cries of those who have been defrauded reach the ears of the Lord. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies James 5:4.

We also hear your frustration with supervision that micromanages, intimidates and makes rude comments, and with leadership that seems to care only for profit. While we understand your desire to see such people put in their place, we gently encourage you to guard your heart against bitterness and to leave vengeance to God while praying also for their repentance. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Instead we are called to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. This does not mean accepting abuse as right, but it means trusting God as the righteous Judge who will both correct and, if they do not repent, hold accountable.

Your quiet endurance and gracious response honors God, and we encourage you to continue working heartily as unto the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance Colossians 3:23-24. At the same time, Scripture also calls us to seek justice and to speak for what is right. Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed Isaiah 1:17 and Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate Proverbs 31:8. It is wise and biblical to keep a quiet, accurate record of dates, comments, and withheld training, to seek godly counsel outside that workplace if needed, and to consider lawful and orderly avenues for protection if the pattern continues, all while committing your way to the Lord.

We know HR and management may seem untrustworthy, but God is not. The Lord executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed Psalm 103:6. Promotion and vindication do not ultimately come from a supervisor or an owner, for neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation. But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another Psalm 75:6-7. The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires Proverbs 21:1, and He is able to soften or restrain even a harsh supervisor.

We pray together now for you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our sister before Your throne of grace. You see every unfair act, every delayed training, every watchful eye, every rude word spoken behind her back and to her face. Nothing is hidden from You. We ask that You would be her defender and her shield, that You would vindicate her cause in Your perfect time and way. Let Your justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. We pray for that higher badge and training that has been withheld, that if it is Your will, You would open that door that no man can shut, and that her faithful labor would be recognized. Give her strength to continue in excellence, to not grow weary in doing good, and to keep a heart free from anger and resentment.

Lord, we also pray for these supervisors and for the owner. Convict them of partiality and harshness, bring them to repentance, and teach them to lead with fairness and kindness as those who will themselves give an account to You. Where there is greed and love of money, reveal that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil 1 Timothy 6:10, and turn their hearts toward righteousness. Restrain evil on that job site, bring accountability where it is needed, and make that workplace an environment where all can labor in peace and dignity. If it is Your will for her to remain and be a light there, sustain her. If it is Your will to move her to a better place as You did for the other woman, make that path clear and provide abundantly.

Grant her wisdom, peace that surpasses understanding, and assurance that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Help her to commit her way to Yahweh, trust also in Him and He will do this Psalm 37:5, and to know that though she may be oppressed, she is not forsaken. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been, to do good work day after day and still feel watched and picked at, and to see training and pay held back unfairly. It makes sense you would feel worn down and also frustrated that HR and leadership don't feel safe to approach. Choosing to respond with grace when you have been provoked has taken real strength, and we admire your desire to wait on the Lord rather than react in anger.

Carrying this alone can be isolating, so we want to encourage you in a couple of steady ways as you continue to pray for God's intervention.

It can help to keep a private, factual record outside of work - dates, times, what was said or done, and any witnesses - just for your own clarity. If you have a trusted mentor, pastor, or wise counselor outside the company, talking it through confidentially can give you perspective on next wise steps and what options may be available to you. And please keep caring for yourself in this season, rest and community outside of work matter when a workplace feels tense every day.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift our sister to You in Jesus' name. You see her work, her integrity, and the unfairness she is facing. Grant her wisdom for each day, protection and peace as she does her job, and make a way for what is right and fair. Give her favor, clear guidance for the future, and daily strength as she trusts You. Amen.

Your burden under this close and uneven treatment at work has been brought before the Lord, and He who sees all that is done in secret has heard your prayer for His intervention.

It is a trial indeed to labour faithfully, to run the line well day after day, and yet to find yourself watched, measured, and hindered, while grace is returned for unkindness and still the provocation continues. The Lord knows this path. There is no wrong done to His people but it is registered in His archives, and He keeps account with perfect justice. As it is written, the Lord is slow to anger, and His lictor carries his axe bound up in a bundle of rods, for He will not cut off men until He has reproved them that they may repent. He is slow to threaten and slow to punish, not because He winks at injustice, but because He is long suffering, giving space for conscience to work. Yet His word stands, He will not at all acquit the wicked. Justice is no forgotten attribute with Him.

You have chosen the better part in refusing to repay evil with evil, and in committing your cause to Him who judges righteously. That is Christlike. When Justice itself stood to accuse us, we had no answer but to flee to Gethsemane and to the cross, where our Substitute bore what we deserved, so that Justice once satisfied might become our advocate. Now we may come with boldness to the throne of grace and not to the bench of mere justice, pleading the blood of Jesus who cleanses from all sin, and asking the Father to do what is right. Vengeance belongs to Him, and He will repay in His own time and way, whether by bringing conviction and change to those who do wrong, or by vindicating His own in His perfect wisdom.

Continue then, as you have purposed, to work heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men, to keep a clear conscience, to speak the truth in love, and to be gracious when provoked. Such conduct is itself a witness to God's holiness and love, and it leaves room for the Lord to work. Where lawful and wise means are open to seek fairness, use them with quiet prudence, keeping a faithful record and seeking counsel, for the Lord often works through proper order. Where doors are closed, as with those you cannot trust, still trust Him who opens doors no man can shut.

We pray with you now, that the Lord Jesus Christ will intervene in this workplace. May He restrain every personal bias and every evil intent, may He turn the hearts of supervisors and managers toward fairness and truth, and may He hold accountable those who are entrusted with authority. May He protect you from harm, grant you favour to receive the training and labour that is justly due, and give you peace that guards your heart while you wait on Him. May He make your gracious endurance a testimony of His wondrous works, so that others may see what His grace can do in a tried servant.

May the Lord teach you still as His pupil, and enable you to declare His faithfulness through this trial, and may He who has taught you from your youth not forsake you now. We leave you and those set over you in His hands, who can both chasten and save, and who will surely do right.

In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and righteousness, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your perseverance in choosing grace when you have been provoked again and again has not gone unnoticed by God, and thank you for bringing this burden into the light so we can pray with you.

What you describe is a real injustice. To be denied training and pay that others receive, to be watched and measured on every break, to have comments made and your space intruded upon while you are simply doing your work faithfully, is a heavy trial. It is right to name it for what it is. God is a God of justice, and He has planted the sense of justice even in human workplaces and courts so that we would remember that He Himself will not overlook what is done. He sees when unfair gain is taken by withholding what is due, and He sees the quiet endurance of those who suffer without returning evil.

You have chosen the harder and better path in refusing to react with anger or to create strife in return. Scripture calls us to show restraint even when we suffer, not to repay insult for insult, and to leave room for God to act. That does not mean what is happening is acceptable or that accountability is not needed. It means your endurance is itself a testimony and a training of your soul, and God will honor it. He is the one who judges rightly, and He will bring to light what has been done in secret or excused by those in power.

I join you in praying now in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and salvation.

Father, in Jesus name we ask You to intervene on this job. You see every act of discrimination and unfair treatment, every denial of training, every moment of being watched and belittled. Bring conviction where there is bias and wrongdoing, and bring accountability to supervisors and management and to the owner. Restrain evil and protect Your child from harm. Give wisdom and strength to continue to work with excellence and grace, provide for every need, and open a just path forward whether through a change of heart in this workplace or through a better provision elsewhere. Let justice be done and let Your peace guard this heart while waiting on You.

Continue to walk graciously as you have, not returning evil for evil, but also walk wisely. Keep a clear record of what occurs, seek godly counsel when you can, and keep entrusting yourself to Him who judges justly. We will continue to pray that the Lord sustains you, guards your work, and makes His justice and mercy known in this situation.

Your willingness to keep doing good work while enduring unfair treatment, and to bring this to Jesus instead of reacting in anger, honors God and it is the right place to turn.

Scripture is clear that God forbids partiality and favoritism. Leaders are charged before God and before Jesus Christ and the holy angels to treat people without preferring one over another for reasons like position, wealth, appearance, or gender. When a supervisor withholds training, pay increases, or opportunity from some while giving it to others, or watches and pressures one person more closely than others, that is the very kind of partiality God warns against. He sees it, and He does not take it lightly.

It helps to remember what Jesus taught about prayer with the story of the persistent widow and the unjust judge. That judge did not fear God and did not care about people, and only acted because the widow kept coming. Jesus was not saying God is like that judge. He was teaching the opposite by contrast. If even a hard and uncaring man will finally respond to persistence, how much more will your heavenly Father, who loves and cares for you, hear His own people when they cry out to Him day and night. Your persistent prayer is not bothering God. It is exactly what He invites. He is not indifferent or unfeeling. He is attentive, and He will act in His perfect time and way.

That confidence rests on the fact that God will judge righteously. He will not be unfair when He judges. The Bible teaches there is a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. Those who belong to Christ share in the first resurrection, over which the second death has no power. The unjust will be raised later to stand before the great throne of judgment. There is a time coming when every hidden motive and every act of unfairness will be brought into the light, and no one will be judged without perfect justice according to what they have known and done. Knowing this does not mean we take vengeance ourselves, but it does mean we can rest that nothing is missed or forgotten by God, including how His people are treated. Just as God promised to hold accountable those who showed no mercy to His people even when He had allowed them to be handed over for a time, He still notices how His people are treated today.

It is also understandable that you feel a deep distress at injustice. The Scriptures say that an unjust person is an abomination to the righteous, and the upright in turn are often despised by the wicked. When you seek to live fairly and do your work well, encountering deliberate unfairness feels especially grievous. That tension is real and it is not wrong to name it before God.

Jesus Himself shows the way through that tension. He, the just One, suffered for the unjust, to bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit. He did not retaliate when wronged, but entrusted Himself to the Father who judges justly. As you continue to be gracious and refuse to return evil for evil or create conflict where none exists, you are following His example. That does not mean you approve of what is wrong or pretend it does not hurt. It means you keep your conduct above reproach, do your work faithfully as unto the Lord, and leave room for God to intervene and to bring accountability where it is needed, whether for a supervisor, for management, or for an owner whose concern is only profit.

Continue to pray persistently and specifically. Ask God to intervene in this work environment, to protect you from harm, to give you wisdom for each interaction, to keep your heart from bitterness, and to bring conviction and accountability where it is needed. Ask Him also to guard your witness, so that your steady, gracious, diligent work speaks clearly. If you are able to keep a quiet personal record of what happens, do so with integrity. Above all, keep entrusting yourself to Him who sees every break that is timed, every comment that is made, and every opportunity that is withheld.

Praying for you now, that Jesus will surround you with His presence at your desk and on the line, give you peace that guards your heart when you are watched or spoken to harshly, provide for every need including the training and provision you have been denied, and in His way and time bring justice and correction to those who act with bias and unkindness. May He strengthen you to keep doing what is right, to rest in His care, and to wait with hope on His faithful answer.
