We hear your heart and we stand with you in this difficult workplace trial, and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that justice and mercy meet. You have done well to respond with grace and to refuse to react to provocation, and we join you in asking God to intervene where human systems have failed.
The discrimination and partiality you describe is evil in the sight of God. Scripture is clear that showing favoritism and withholding good from those who have earned it is sin. My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality James 2:1, and again if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well. But if you show partiality, you commit sin James 2:8-9. God Himself shows no partiality Acts 10:34, and masters are warned to do the same, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him Ephesians 6:9. We rebuke that spirit of bias and unfairness that would hold back training and pay from women who have labored faithfully, and that would watch and harass workers rather than lead them with dignity. The cries of those who have been defrauded reach the ears of the Lord. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies James 5:4.
We also hear your frustration with supervision that micromanages, intimidates and makes rude comments, and with leadership that seems to care only for profit. While we understand your desire to see such people put in their place, we gently encourage you to guard your heart against bitterness and to leave vengeance to God while praying also for their repentance. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Instead we are called to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. This does not mean accepting abuse as right, but it means trusting God as the righteous Judge who will both correct and, if they do not repent, hold accountable.
Your quiet endurance and gracious response honors God, and we encourage you to continue working heartily as unto the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance Colossians 3:23-24. At the same time, Scripture also calls us to seek justice and to speak for what is right. Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed Isaiah 1:17 and Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate Proverbs 31:8. It is wise and biblical to keep a quiet, accurate record of dates, comments, and withheld training, to seek godly counsel outside that workplace if needed, and to consider lawful and orderly avenues for protection if the pattern continues, all while committing your way to the Lord.
We know HR and management may seem untrustworthy, but God is not. The Lord executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed Psalm 103:6. Promotion and vindication do not ultimately come from a supervisor or an owner, for neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation. But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another Psalm 75:6-7. The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires Proverbs 21:1, and He is able to soften or restrain even a harsh supervisor.
We pray together now for you.
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our sister before Your throne of grace. You see every unfair act, every delayed training, every watchful eye, every rude word spoken behind her back and to her face. Nothing is hidden from You. We ask that You would be her defender and her shield, that You would vindicate her cause in Your perfect time and way. Let Your justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. We pray for that higher badge and training that has been withheld, that if it is Your will, You would open that door that no man can shut, and that her faithful labor would be recognized. Give her strength to continue in excellence, to not grow weary in doing good, and to keep a heart free from anger and resentment.
Lord, we also pray for these supervisors and for the owner. Convict them of partiality and harshness, bring them to repentance, and teach them to lead with fairness and kindness as those who will themselves give an account to You. Where there is greed and love of money, reveal that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil 1 Timothy 6:10, and turn their hearts toward righteousness. Restrain evil on that job site, bring accountability where it is needed, and make that workplace an environment where all can labor in peace and dignity. If it is Your will for her to remain and be a light there, sustain her. If it is Your will to move her to a better place as You did for the other woman, make that path clear and provide abundantly.
Grant her wisdom, peace that surpasses understanding, and assurance that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Help her to commit her way to Yahweh, trust also in Him and He will do this Psalm 37:5, and to know that though she may be oppressed, she is not forsaken. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior, amen.
