Did God Really Speak To Me?

I prayed hard one night and was crying a lot, and I asked God to speak to me again (he had prior to me in a dream). I dreamt I was on a hill, with God behind me, and he whispered in my ear, "don't worry, he is asking for your hand in marriage," and guided me to look down, and that's where I saw my ex showing my dad a ring.

We are not together. Can someone explain this to me? I hate to doubt this because it felt soooo real.
