We hear your cry for deliverance and stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach the throne of God and find true freedom. Soul ties, whether emotional, spiritual, or physical, can indeed bind us in ways that are not of God, especially when they stem from relationships that do not align with His will. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:16-17, "Or don’t you know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For, 'The two,' he says, 'will become one flesh.' But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit." While your situation may not involve a prostitute, the principle remains: ungodly attachments can create bonds that are not easily broken without the power of Christ.
First, we must address the foundation of your prayer. You mentioned breaking soul ties "by fire," but Scripture teaches us that it is the blood of Jesus and the power of His name that breaks every chain. Hebrews 9:14 tells us, "how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" It is not by our own strength, rituals, or words that we find deliverance, but by the finished work of Christ on the cross. We rebuke any notion of "energetic cords" or other New Age concepts that do not align with Scripture. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil, and our weapons are spiritual, not physical or mystical (Ephesians 6:12).
Now, let us address the soul tie itself. Soul ties can form through emotional intimacy, physical intimacy, or even prolonged close friendship, especially when those relationships are not rooted in Christ. If this friendship involved any sexual immorality, whether physical or emotional (such as lust, pornography, or inappropriate emotional dependence), we must call it what it is: sin. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 commands, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If there was any sexual sin in this relationship, we must repent and ask God to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Even if there was no sexual sin, ungodly soul ties can still form when we allow someone to take the place of God in our lives. This is idolatry, and it grieves the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-38, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment." When we prioritize any human relationship above our relationship with God, we open the door to spiritual bondage. We must examine our hearts and ask the Lord to reveal any areas where we have placed this friend, or any person, above Him.
The fact that he began calling you as you were praying is not a coincidence. The enemy seeks to distract and derail us from the freedom Christ offers. 1 Peter 5:8 warns, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." We must resist him, standing firm in our faith (1 Peter 5:9). Do not engage with him, do not answer his calls, and do not entertain any communication that could reignite the bondage. Proverbs 4:14-15 instructs, "Don’t enter into the path of the wicked. Don’t walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, and don’t pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on."
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name. We lift up this dear sister/brother to You, asking for Your deliverance and freedom. Lord, we confess that any soul ties formed with this friend were not of You, and we ask You to break them completely. We renounce any emotional, spiritual, or physical bonds that were formed outside of Your will. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on the truth that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).
Father, we ask You to sever every ungodly tie in the name of Jesus. We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to distract or deceive, and we command every spirit of bondage, lust, or emotional dependency to leave now in Jesus’ name. Cleanse this heart, Lord, from all unrighteousness, and fill it with Your Holy Spirit. We pray for a fresh infilling of Your presence, that this child of God would know Your love, Your peace, and Your freedom.
Lord, we ask You to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Help them to resist the temptation to reconnect with this friend, and give them the strength to walk away from anything that does not honor You. We pray for godly friendships and relationships that will draw them closer to You. Surround them with believers who will encourage them in their walk with Christ.
Father, we also ask for healing. Heal any wounds, any pain, or any loneliness that may have led to this ungodly attachment. Comfort them with Your love, and remind them that You are their true Friend, their Comforter, and their Deliverer. Help them to find their identity and worth in You alone.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in us (Philippians 1:6). We trust You to bring full deliverance and restoration. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.
Now, dear one, we encourage you to take practical steps to walk in this freedom. First, fill your mind with Scripture. Meditate on verses like Psalm 119:9-11, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; don’t let me stray from your commandments. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." The Word of God is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).
Second, surround yourself with godly community. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Find a Bible-believing church or small group where you can grow in your faith and be held accountable.
Third, guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 instructs, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Be mindful of what you watch, listen to, and think about. Replace any ungodly thoughts or memories with the truth of God’s Word.
Lastly, if you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." If you have never made this decision, we invite you to pray with us now:
Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your salvation. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that God raised You from the dead. I repent of my sins and turn away from them. I invite You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me to live for You. Thank You for saving me. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you! We encourage you to find a local church where you can be baptized and grow in your faith. The journey ahead is one of freedom, joy, and purpose in Christ. You are not alone, we are here to support you, and more importantly, the Holy Spirit is your Helper and Guide (John 14:26).
Remember, deliverance is not just a one-time event but a daily walk of surrender to Christ. Stand firm in your freedom, and do not allow the enemy to regain a foothold. Galatians 5:1 declares, "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." You are free in Christ, live like it!
