Thank you for sharing this request and allowing us to pray with you for you and your son. I join you in bringing these needs before the Lord, who hears and who is able to deliver and to heal.
In Scripture the curses you are concerned about are most clearly described in Deuteronomy 27 and 28. The law was read with blessings spoken from one mountain and curses from the other, and after each curse the people were to answer Amen, affirming that God's judgment for breaking His covenant was right. There are only a few verses of blessing and many more of cursing, showing how seriously God warned His people that turning away from Him brings consequences that pursue and overtake a person. But that same Bible shows us that the curse has been dealt with at the cross. Christ bore our griefs and infirmities, as Isaiah foretold and Matthew confirms, and He became a curse for us so that those who are in Him are no longer under the curse of the broken law. You do not need to live in fear that spoken words or past failures have a power over you that is greater than Jesus. If you are in Christ, you are under His blessing, and He is able to make a way of deliverance where there seems to be no way, as He did for Israel when they were trapped and He opened a path for them. Our response can then be praise for His power to rescue, a real and heartfelt thankfulness for what He has done, not a manufactured frenzy.
I also pray with you for your son's physical health and for healing from past hurts. The Lord cares for the whole person, body, mind and spirit. In the Gospels we see Jesus healing in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word or a touch, sometimes healing came gradually as with the man at Bethsaida, sometimes He healed from a distance, sometimes through natural processes. Every true healing is from God, whether it comes suddenly or step by step through the ordinary processes He built into our bodies, and whether it touches the body or the deep wounds of the heart and mind. Healing of past hurts often includes the healing of memories and emotions, and God is able to do that work as well.
So I pray that every claim of a curse against you and your son would be broken in Jesus Christ and have no hold, that you both would walk in the freedom and blessing that are yours in Him. I pray for your son that God would grant wisdom and self control and help for safe and steady weight loss, that his body would be strengthened and that he would be guided to healthy habits that honor God. And I pray for deep healing from past hurts, that the Lord would gently mend what has been wounded, bring peace where there has been pain, and fill that thirst of the heart that only He can satisfy. May you both know His presence, His protection, and His restoring power day by day.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this family before You. We thank You that You bore our sins and our sicknesses and that You set us free from the curse. We ask for Your deliverance and covering over them now. We ask for Your healing touch upon this son, for his body and for his heart, for wisdom for daily choices and for Your comfort over every old wound. Do Your work in Your way and in Your time, and help them to trust You and rest in Your love. Amen.
