Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and allowing prayer for you and your son. I am praying with you for deliverance, for health, and for deep healing.
In Scripture the curses you are concerned about are described in Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28. From Mount Ebal the curses for disobeying God's covenant were spoken out, and the people were to answer Amen, agreeing that God's judgment was just. The list of curses that would overtake those who turned away from the Lord is long, much longer than the list of blessings, because the consequences of rejecting God's voice are so serious. The Bible makes it clear that if we break God's law we stand under that curse.
The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has borne that curse for us. Isaiah 53 says He has borne our griefs and infirmities, and the New Testament teaches that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. So my prayer for you and your son is not that a spoken formula will be reversed, but that you will rest fully in what Jesus has already done. Where there has been sin, there is forgiveness through His blood. Where the enemy would accuse or oppress, there is freedom in Christ alone. I pray that any influence of darkness would be broken in Jesus name, and that you both would walk in the protection and peace that belong to those who are in Him, obeying His voice and trusting His grace.
I am also praying for your son's physical health and for safe weight loss. The Bible shows that Jesus heals in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a touch or a word, sometimes He healed gradually, as with the blind man at Bethsaida where healing came in stages. That gradual healing is the only one of its kind recorded, and it reminds us that God is not limited to one pattern. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through a process. The natural processes of healing that God placed in our bodies are divine because He created them. I pray that God will guide your son to wise and safe steps for his health, give him strength and discipline, and bring healing to his body in the way the Lord knows is best, whether quickly or step by step.
I am praying as well for healing from past hurts. Past wounds can keep us bound if we live in them, constantly looking back at what was done to us or what we have done. The apostle Paul wrote that the things that were once gain to him he counted as loss when he met Jesus, and that thirty years later he still counted them as loss. He learned that a past experience only helps us if it becomes a present reality, and that we must forget what is behind and press forward to know Christ. I pray that God will heal the scars in your son's mind and emotions as well as his body, that any bitterness or pain from the past would be lifted, and that he would not be destroyed by what is behind him but would find new life and hope in a living relationship with Jesus. May the Lord replace hurt with His peace and give you both the excellency of knowing Christ more deeply each day.
Father, in the name of Jesus I ask that You cover this family with Your mercy. Break every chain, silence every accusation, and let them know the freedom of being found in Christ. Grant wisdom for physical health, steady and safe progress, and complete healing of heart and mind. Draw them close to You and make Your presence their strength. Amen.
