Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. I have prayed for you and for your son, asking God to bring freedom, health, and deep healing in Jesus Christ.
The Bible speaks plainly about blessings and curses. In Deuteronomy 27 and 28 the tribes stood in the valley with blessings pronounced from one mountain and curses pronounced from Mount Ebal for breaking God's covenant, and the people were to answer Amen, acknowledging that God's judgment is right. The curses were not vague spells from other people. They were the consequences God said would pursue and overtake those who turned away from His voice and His commands. There were only a few verses of blessing and many verses of curse, because disobedience brings such a trail of trouble.
That is why our hope is not in trying to break a curse by a formula, but in turning fully to the Lord and trusting what Jesus has done. Scripture says He bore our sicknesses and infirmities, as Isaiah 53 teaches, and on the cross He bore the curse for us so that we can walk in forgiveness and freedom. The way into blessing is to hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord, to walk in obedience and faith in Christ, and to rest in His righteousness rather than our own. I pray that any power of sin, accusation, or oppression over you and your son would be broken in Jesus name, and that you both would know the protection and peace that comes from belonging to Him and walking closely with Him.
For your son's health, I pray for safe and steady progress in losing weight. The Gospels show that Jesus healed in different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word or a touch, sometimes He healed gradually, and sometimes He healed without even being present. All healing is from God, and even the gradual processes He placed within our bodies are divine, because He created them. I pray God will give your son wisdom, self control, and good counsel for daily habits, medical guidance that is sound, and patience for a gradual and lasting work rather than anything harmful or hurried. God cares about the body as well as the soul, and He is able to give strength for each step.
For healing from past hurts, the Lord also heals the mind and emotions. One of the most freeing truths in the New Testament is that Paul counted his whole past, both his former religious striving and his old wounds, as loss compared to knowing Christ. He said he counted them as loss at the moment he met Jesus, and thirty years later he still counted them as loss, because a past experience only has value when it becomes a present reality. He also said to forget what lies behind and press forward. That does not mean pretending the past did not happen, but refusing to live there, rehearsing the hurt, or letting it define the future. I pray God will do that deep inner healing for your son and for you, lifting the weight of old scars, renewing the mind, and helping you both embrace the new life and righteousness that is yours through faith in Jesus.
May the Lord confirm His love to you, guard you from the enemy, guide you in wise choices for health, and bring wholeness to every wounded place as you keep your eyes on Christ and follow Him day by day.
Father, in the name of Jesus I ask You to set this family free from every consequence of sin and every work of darkness, to cover them with Your grace, to lead this young man into safe and healthy strength in his body, and to heal the hurts of the past with Your comfort and truth. Give them a present and living walk with You, and let them know the excellency of knowing Christ. Amen.
