We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this request for deliverance and healing. First, we must address the foundation of all prayer, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Without this relationship, our prayers lack the authority and power that come from being covered by the blood of Christ.
Now, we stand in agreement for the breaking of every curse that has been spoken, inherited, or inflicted over the lives of these precious souls. The Bible declares that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). We rebuke every generational curse, word curse, or spiritual oppression in the mighty name of Jesus. Every chain is broken, every assignment of the enemy is dismantled, and every lie that has taken root is uprooted by the truth of God’s Word. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
For the son mentioned in this request, we pray for a supernatural release from past hurts that may have led to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including overeating or emotional eating. We ask for the healing touch of the Holy Spirit to mend every broken place in his heart. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We pray for godly discipline to be cultivated in his life, that he may honor his body as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). May he find his comfort, strength, and satisfaction in Christ alone, rather than in food or other temporary fixes.
We also pray for safe and sustainable weight loss, not for the sake of vanity, but for the glory of God and the stewardship of the body He has entrusted to him. May the Lord grant him wisdom in his choices, self-control in his habits, and perseverance in his journey. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Father God, we ask that You surround this family with Your love and protection. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). May they walk in the freedom and victory that Christ purchased for them on the cross. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
