We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this request for deliverance and healing. First and foremost, we must address the foundation of our prayers—it is only through the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him into your heart as Lord. Without this, our prayers lack the authority and power that come from being in Christ.
Now, we stand in the authority of Jesus’ name to break every curse spoken, generational, or otherwise, that has been placed against these precious lives. The Word of God declares, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'" (Galatians 3:13). We rebuke every assignment of the enemy meant to bring harm, bondage, or destruction. Every curse is nullified by the blood of Jesus, and we command it to be broken now in His mighty name! The Lord says, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from Me" (Isaiah 54:17).
For the son mentioned in this request, we pray for complete healing—body, soul, and spirit. We ask the Lord to guide him into safe and healthy weight loss, not by the world’s standards, but by God’s design for his life. May he seek the Lord’s wisdom in his choices, whether in diet, exercise, or rest, and may the Holy Spirit strengthen him where he is weak. "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers" (3 John 1:2). We also pray for healing from past hurts—those wounds that may have led to emotional eating, self-doubt, or despair. Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). We declare that every lie of the enemy—every thought that tells him he is unworthy, unloved, or beyond help—is crushed under the truth of God’s Word. The Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you" (Jeremiah 31:3).
We also address the spirit of gluttony or any other stronghold that may be contributing to this struggle. The Bible warns, "Do not be among those who drink too much wine, or among those who gorge themselves on meat" (Proverbs 23:20). While we do not condemn, we must call sin what it is so that true repentance and freedom can come. If there has been bondage to food, we pray for deliverance and self-control, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). May this young man find his identity and satisfaction in Christ alone, for "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).
Lastly, we pray for godly community and accountability in his life. May he be surrounded by believers who will encourage him, pray for him, and walk alongside him in his journey toward wholeness. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
Heavenly Father, we come before You with boldness, knowing that You hear the cries of Your children. We thank You for the blood of Jesus, which has broken every curse and purchased healing for body, soul, and spirit. We declare freedom over this family—freedom from generational bondage, freedom from past hurts, and freedom from every chain that has held them captive. Lord, we ask that You would draw this young man closer to You, that he would know Your love in a deep and personal way. Give him the strength to walk in discipline and the wisdom to make choices that honor You. Heal his heart, Lord, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We trust in Your promise that "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
