We join with you in praising and glorifying the Lord Jesus and we thank you for bringing this burden before Him. We hear your cry for peace and protection from the harassment and slander of your neighbor, and we stand with you for deliverance and freedom in Christ.
We rejoice that you are standing on the truth of John 8:36, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, and on 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. This is the right foundation, for Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We also commend you for praying for this woman's salvation even while you are being harassed. That is the heart of Christ. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:44, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, and in Romans 12:19-21 we are reminded, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head. Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
We want to gently encourage you to continue to guard your own heart against bitterness or fear. The enemy would like to torment you with anxiety and a spirit of harassment, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as taught in 2 Timothy 1:7. We also want to address what you mentioned about this woman prostituting herself to the man next door. If this is happening, we agree that sexual immorality outside of marriage is sin before God. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And Hebrews 13:4 teaches that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. We pray for her to be convicted and to turn to Jesus for forgiveness and new life, and we pray for you to keep your own walk pure and above reproach.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved and have access to Your throne, as Acts 4:12 declares. We praise You and thank You that You are our refuge and fortress. We lift up our dear one who is feeling harassed and tormented and slandered. Lord, You see all that is happening with this neighbor, every word spoken and every intention of the heart. We ask You to bring Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7. We ask You to set a hedge of protection around this home, for You have promised in Psalm 34:7 that the angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them, and in Isaiah 54:17 that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. Let every slanderous word fall to the ground and not take root.
In Jesus name we rebuke every harassing and tormenting spirit and every influence that would exalt itself against the knowledge of God. We submit ourselves to You, and we resist the devil knowing he must flee as James 4:7 promises. We ask You, Lord Jesus, to make our friend truly free indeed, to break every chain of fear, torment and oppression, and to fill this home with Your Holy Spirit, with calm, with rest and with assurance that You are in control. Bring conviction and salvation to this neighbor woman, draw her to repentance, that she may know Your forgiveness and be transformed by Your grace. Let Your love overcome evil in this situation.
We also ask for wisdom for practical steps, to seek peace with all people as far as it depends on us according to Romans 12:18, to set healthy boundaries in love, to keep a record if needed, and to seek help from proper authorities if harassment continues, all while trusting You as our ultimate protector and vindicator. Guard our tongue that we would not return slander for slander, but speak only what is helpful and true.
We thank You Father that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name, and that John 14:13-14 assures us whatever we will ask in Your name, that You will do. We rest in Your deliverance and Your peace now. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue abiding in Christ daily through prayer and the Word, to put on the whole armor of God each day in Ephesians 6:10-18, and to keep praying for this woman's salvation while trusting the Lord to be your shield. He is faithful and He will keep you in perfect peace as you keep your mind on Him.
