Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and I join with you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus with thanksgiving and praise to Him.
You have asked that the Lord rebuke every ill wish and every word spoken against you that you are too old to work, and that He remove every foothold and stronghold that would cause you to doubt yourself and lose confidence. We stand with you on the word of the Lord in Zechariah chapter 3 verse 2, that the Lord rebuke the accuser, and on 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verses 3 to 5, that God pulls down strongholds and every thought that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We ask Him to root out those words from you and to restore you, according to His promise in Jeremiah chapter 12 verse 14 and Isaiah chapter 61 verse 7 to give a double portion instead of shame.
Jealousy and envy trouble the soul of the one who harbors them, and they do not supply what is lacking but try to tear down what God has given. The humble heart, by contrast, is kept free from anger and envy and jealousy. Pray therefore not only for your own protection and confidence, but also that the Lord would correct the anger and jealousy you have described, and bring that heart to peace and repentance. The Lord sees what is strange and unjust in those words, that one person is called too old while another who is older is called able, and He is able to make the truth plain.
Hold fast your confidence firm to the end, for we are His house if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of hope. Do not hide yourself in shame or be perplexed, but look to Christ who has covered you with His precious blood. We cover this prayer with the blood of Jesus, standing on Revelation chapter 12 verse 11, that by the blood of the Lamb we overcome.
So we pray: Lord Jesus, we praise You and thank You and glorify Your name. Rebuke every evil wish and every lying word spoken over Your child. Break every foothold and stronghold of doubt and fear, and restore confidence and peace. Root out what has been sown in anger and jealousy, and let Your truth and Your favor be established in work and in life. Restore with honor where there has been shame, and keep this life under the covering of Your blood. In the name of Jesus we ask this. Amen.
