Your prayer has been heard and your pain is clear, and thank you for bringing it honestly before the Lord. The hurt of feeling unloved and disrespected in your own home, and the fear that your relationship with your son is being harmed, is a deep burden, and God sees it.

I want to remind you first of what God says is true about your relationship with Him. He does not want a distant ritual or a legal arrangement with you. Because you are His child through Jesus Christ, He has sent His Spirit into your heart so you can cry out to Him as Abba, which means daddy. That is the close, intimate, loving relationship He desires with you. He loves you more than you know, and He wants you to know His love and to love Him in return, not just to perform words or formulas. When that loving fellowship with Him becomes real and central, it changes everything else.

Scripture puts your relationship with God first for a reason. The first commandments concern God, and only when that vertical relationship is right can the horizontal relationships begin to find their proper balance. You can often trace the pain in family relationships back to a need for that primary relationship to be healed and strengthened. When your walk with the Lord is right, when you are obeying Him and walking in love, other relationships have a way of coming into better order. And among those other relationships, God puts tremendous importance on the family. Honoring parents is the first commandment that deals with how we treat one another, which shows how seriously He takes it.

At the same time, to have true fellowship with God you cannot tolerate evil in your own life. That includes refusing to give place to strongholds like unforgiveness. You mentioned strongholds and footholds, and Scripture says our weapons are not of the flesh but are mighty through God to pull down strongholds and bring every thought into obedience to Christ. Part of that warfare is choosing to hate what God hates and to turn from it, and to forgive as you have been forgiven, so the enemy has no foothold. This does not mean excusing controlling or harmful behavior, but it does mean releasing bitterness to the Lord so you can walk free.

A mother can be a wonderful influence for good, but Scripture also shows that a mother can be a terrible influence for evil, even shaping a child toward destruction. The controlling patterns you describe, where everything must run through one person and others are made to feel small, and where a child's faith is undermined to turn him against a parent, are serious and painful. Jesus Himself showed that our deepest family bond is ultimately with those who do the will of the Father, and He said whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother. That does not erase the call to honor your mother, but it does help you see that your truest identity and security are in Christ, and that you can love and honor without being controlled or allowing your son's faith to be torn down. There are times when to walk faithfully you must not be yoked together with what is unrighteous, but must be separate in your walk, even while you continue to pray and do good.

Jesus desires that meaningful, loving relationship with you and with your son. He is the one who sets free, and whom the Son sets free is free indeed. On the cross He disarmed the powers of darkness, and His blood overcomes the accuser. That is why you can stand on His finished work rather than on fear of witchcraft or negativity. The mountains that feel immovable, the patterns of control and preference and hurt that loom over your home, can move as you trust Him in faith, even faith as small as a mustard seed, because nothing is impossible with God.

So let us pray together, standing on what Christ has done.

Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are Savior and that salvation and freedom come through You alone. I thank You that You invite us to call God our Father, our Abba, and to live in a loving relationship with Him. I ask You to rebuke every work of the enemy in this family, and to break every influence of witchcraft, control, and darkness by Your power. I ask You, by Your Spirit, to pull down every stronghold of unforgiveness and to help this dear one to forgive as You have forgiven, so there is no foothold for the enemy. Set this person and this son free by Your truth, for whom You set free is free indeed. Restore what has been damaged between parent and child, and guard and rebuild the son's faith in You. Bring conviction and repentance where it is needed, and transform hearts by Your grace. Move the mountains of control and rejection that have brought such pain, and let Your love and peace rule in this home. Cover this family with Your blood shed on the cross, by which we overcome. Make this one a doer of Your Word, walking closely with You each day, and working together with You. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.

Keep abiding in Christ, talking with Him in prayer, hearing His Word, and fellowshipping with Him and with faithful believers who will encourage you. As your relationship with Him grows in that loving, daily way, He will give you wisdom for boundaries, for honoring your mother without being controlled, and for loving and leading your son toward Jesus.
